Our Ideas & Additional Information
Michigan Farm to Food Bank is a program of the Food Bank Council of Michigan (www.fbcmich.org). Michigan Farm to Food Bank is the new name for an existing program currently known as Michigan Agricultural Surplus System. We want a name/logo that better illustrates what the program really does...gets farmers to donate their surplus crops/produce and then moves those to Michigan food banks for distribution to food pantries and kitchens to feed hungry people with wholesome, nutritious food. These are some of the typical crops that are donated through the program: Potatoes, Apples, Onions, Corn, Carrots, Asparagus, Greens, Cabbage, Cider, Cucumbers, Peaches, Squash, Peppers, Tomatoes, Melons.

Hi Designers- This is my first time using LogoTournament. I'll do my best to give you valuable feedback. Over the weekend, I will not have much, if any, access to LT, but I will hit it hard on Monday! I've been reading through some of forum threads and I understand how important the rankings are...I'll try to stay on top of that and I will do a thorough ranking at the end of the contest. I've read some different points of view on this regarding top ten rankings for ten different designers vs. top ten rankings for top ten designs regardless if it's by the same or different designers. Please give me some input on that. Also, I've read differing opinions on marking designs "not interested" as opposed to just letting them fall at the end of the rankings. Again, what are your thoughts?
Thanks, in advance, for your work. I'm very excited to work with all of you.

Hi Mary,
Ranking: Do what you want, the only very very important point is:
choose satto as the winner at the end of the contest!

Hi LDs-
Since I'm seeing a few key/vault concepts pop up I just want to clarify...although the name is Food "Bank", it's really a large warehouse facility that takes food in and distributes it out, so I'd like to stay away from any banking-related imagery.
Thanks, Mary Kay

I did my first ranking...hope I wasn't too hard. Let me know what you need.
I tend to like very simple graphics, but my co-workers like more busyness. If someone could come up with that perfect balance to make us all happy...you're genius!

If I'm allowed to reference another contest, I really like the feel and style of the logos that developed for the PlainsChurch contest.

Hi LDs-
Still waiting for that "wow" kind of entry...is there anything I can do to give more direction? #45 and #46 are the closer to what I would like to see. I still hope to see a design that can incorporate both the agricultural aspect and the feeding people aspect. If it helps...Feeding America (http://feedingamerica.org/) is the national counterpart to who we are. We do what they do, but just on a statewide level.
Because we're a small nonprofit, with a limited budget, we will have to use the logo in black & white at times.
Hope this helps.

Hi LDs-
While I like some of the more graphic concepts we are leaning towards a wordmark type logo. As one designer commented, our name does say it all... "Michigan Farm to Food Bank." I'd like to focus on the typography of the words with some simple graphics to support. I really like the field rows that have been incorporated into some of the submissions. Since there's only one day left, if need be...I'll extend the contest.
Thanks for all you work so far!

satto - copying is bad - and who says so - i came up with apples first - but then my entries have gone to not interested listings ; while others have my apples to be ranked !!

And see how many apples out there !!

Hi LDs-
I just extended the contest for 2 days. It's scheduled to end early tomorrow and I haven't gotten feedback from the rest of our staff.
Regarding the apples...when used as the only graphic, for me it brings to mind the Farm to School programs. If it's used in combination with some other elements, it works better for me.
Thanks for all your entries.

Apples alone or apples with other elements - its not a question of My Apple Tree in you Garden; while am not here to fence- its all about borrowing ideas- designs need not look alike - see when someone comes up with farm produce on trees - rest follow.... thats exactly the problem - in any case i play no offense at anyone - apples or no apples - be assured am never moving the logo court - might jus move outa here!!

everyone can't own an idea.. its how you execute it. Its the output that counts.

Hi LDs-
Thanks so much for all you entries. I'm so impressed with your talents. This is not easy deciding. For the top four logos as of right now, are those designed 4-color process (I'm assuming) and if so, do you think they can be done with 3-color pantone (I realize that take some modifying)? Just wondering because of cost of reproduction.

Still welcome new entries. Thanks for all your hard work!

Hi Designers-
Wow...a lot came in overnight. I don't have time to rank everything right now, there's only a short time left anyway. It's a long holiday weekend here in the United States, so when I'm back in the office on Tuesday, I'll rank and then we'll start judging. Thanks so much for all your hard work. I've recommended LT to anyone and everyone I can think of.
