What We Do
We design, develop and operate game applications for use with online social networking platforms such as Facebook.
Industry
Internet
Color Preferences
Open to all colors. Would like to keep it fairly simple (just a few colors) but vibrant. Focus is online and internet gaming - so a modern (web friendly) color pallette is preferred.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
A temporary logo was created by one of our artists and is posted at: http://www.juiceboxgroup.com/

We liked the general idea and feel of this design but felt it needed something to make it pop. It's just a bit flat.

Some sample images from one of our games:

I was told to post only general comments here and more specific comments regarding specific designs on the respective designer's page - so I am editing my earlier post. A couple general observations: I like how #1 maximized "Juice Box" and minimized "Media" - as we typically just refer to ourselves as "Juice Box." I tend to prefer more basic and primary colors. I am a fan of oranges, purples (I know not primary), greens, reds, bold blues (not so much the paler shades of blue).

Looking for a playful, whimsical feel (game development being our focus - after all).

We will consider using the winner to design cards and letterhead should that be of interest. I've asked my partners to login every so often as well and I will consolidate their feedback and post it as we go. I will try and post comments 2/3 times each day.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monitary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Holy Smokes - I just logged on and I'm amazed by how creative you people are. This is some really great stuff. Unfortunately, my job just got a lot more difficult - but that's a good thing. I will try and post specific comments for as many designs as possible. I will also post some more general observations here - after I've had time to go through the various designs.

OK - I just posted comments for everyone on their pages. A few general observations:

1. We tend to be leaning towards designs that have both text and a standalone graphic component
2. Designs where the text can be used alone if neccessary are a plus as well.
3. Addressing our target audience is outweighing my preference for more simplified, utilitarian designs. In other words, whacky, zany, fun is winning out. As I mentioned to one designer ... imagine Goofy or Donald Duck acting as the curator for the Museum of Modern Art.
4. We like the idea of making something of an actual juicebox image (ie: the designs which show it as a cross between a sjuicebox and an electronic game) but we would like to maybe tweak it away from the idea of a gameboy or gaming console (xbox, etc). We don't really play in that market but more in the more traditional internet gaming arena - Mac or PC based apps running on facebook, myspace, etc. I'm not sure what advice to give in that regard but our games are slower paced keyboard and strategy style games as opposed to games that utilize a game pad. I know that's a nerdy distinction - but that is the world I live in - LOL. Maybe the box could look more like a laptop or maybe just a kayboard instead of the gamepad. Not sure - but my two tech partners will continue to struggle with the use of a controller gamepad.

I just logged a bunch of specific comments and adjusted the ranks. A couple new entries came in while I was ranking but I will need to wait for feedback from my partners before including those in the new rankings.

As a game development shop, we operate a bit differently than most other businesses. We will certainly build around a central brand but we will augment that brand with a variety of designs that we will use on decals, t-shirts and other promotional items for our fans and customers (think along the lines of a surfboard or skateboard company - one main logo or brand - but tons of other looks for use on promo gear). As such, it is very likely that in addition to a first place winner, we will seek to negotiate with other designers to purchase additional submitted designs for use in that regard. I was very pleased to learn from LT that this is not in any way prohibited or discouraged. So please do not be disheartened if you are not ranked first. That is just one aspect of this process. A design that might not work on my business card might be just what I want on a t-shirt, mousepad or a sponsored skateboard ramp.

My apologies everyone - I didn't have time to discuss the new designs with my partners today as I was in other meetings and away from my computer until just a few minutes ago. I promise to get some new rankings up tomorrow just as soon as I get their feedback.

I could not agree more - the hardest part of this exercise is going to be picking one winner. I have had about 30 logos designed or redesigned over the course of my career. I have always used outside agencies and I have generally been pleased with the outcome - but this process and the creativity of these designers - just blows it away. My sincere thanks to all of you.

OK - I just updated rankings - I will post specific comments later as the site is being very slow for me right now for some reason

OK - I finally got some input from one of my partners who has been away up to this point - so a few of the earlier rankings shifted. We also got a bunch of new designs after we finished this stage of review so these may shift again before any other revisions are made. I will be posting individual comments as well

I am ranking all submissions (1-76) at this time. Unfortunately, I won't be able to post much more feedback prior to the close of the contest as two of my partners are traveling and will only be available about an hour and a half before the contest ends. I will post my feedback for all the newer entries now and I will try and get my partners comments incorporated before time runs out.

Some of these moved around a bit because I was able to get the feedback of all four founding partners and score each entry accordingly. I will try to get a new ranking (including all new designs) up an hour or two before the end of the contest.

just did a quick top four rank. LT is being very buggy and has been offline for me most of the morning so I wanted to get something up as quickly as possible
