Island Surf Co.Logo Design Contest

Good Start on the logos. Keep in mind that this logo will be printed on sock liners and t-shirt, but will also need to be embossed on the outside of shoes. Some of the logos are either too thin to stand out on a shoe or too loog and need to be compacted to fit on the side of a shoe.

While "Paradise for the Sole" is our current slogan. We are looking for completely new ideas for a slogan.

We are also looking for potential graphics to print on t-shirts, and while there will only be one winner we may look at ways to compensate multiple ideas if we see them as potential t-shirt designs.

To All: We are blown away by the great designs and concepts. We will be updating the rankings today. We did many years ago the shoes for shirt company. If you check out zappos.com and put in Old Maui Brand you will see the logo with the two palm trees. It has a vinatge look that appealed to everyone and many felt they had seen this brand before when they really had not. This is just another insight into what we are looking for. we are not set on this type of look but it worked yet the designs coming in look so good we are seem to change direction. One thing we know is that we will come out of this with a great new look.

Just to state some ideas that I have been looking for here. We want something both youthful but not too edgey that it would steer off older consumers. I have seen some great logos with waves, flags, palm trees and islands. There has yet to be any surf boads or surfers brought it to any of the logo concepts here. Vineyard Vines has their Whale, Nautica has the Sailboat, some kind of icon that could be utilized for our brand would be great.

What about a Long Board with the logo to the right. Or a Long Board with a guy holding it and the logo to the right. The board and person could serve as an icon. The font or wrods should be more curved not block.

To All: we have seen many great designs. Even though we will pick one we have interest in many of these as potential T-Shirts screens. The ones we like would include- 201, 192, 118, 187, 162, 150, 136, 140, 106 or variations of these. That is not to say these are not in the running. We would want to compensate any design if we used it.

We have decided to extend the contest through the weekend.While we see potential in a number of these submissions and have gone back and forth on the we feel we can end this after the weekend.

Thank you for giving all of the input throughout the contest. Please rank as many of the designs as you can as the designers get point values, even if their particular design isn't chosen. There were a lot of nice designs done, and some very creative ideas...everyone should pat themselves on the back!

I am very dissapointed that one of the top designs was removed. I do not have the number but it was one of the later entries. It had a surfer riding a wave on the left in multi colors, lower case island (green), lower case surf (blue and a white co. Why was this taken off?

Mike, was it "Withdrawn" by the designer, or did it show "Removed by Moderator".

If "Removed by Moderator" then it was likely for 1 or 2 reasons:

1. Design used clipart or imagery that was copyrighted and should not have been used in the design.

2. Design was not properly centered and/or was more than just a logo (for example we are not allowed to add distracting 'backgrounds' to our logo designs)

The Logo looked no different then any of the others. It would have been top 3 for sure. We are bringing in a group of people this week to look at what we feel are the top logo's to help us pick and decide on the winner. This was my personel favorite and it is gone and I have no idea why. I wish I wrote down the number. I like this sight and had hoped to do more with it. We just bought a technical running shoe company and wanted some changes to the logo and we have big plans for T's for both companies but I am now not sold on this proccess.

Was it #231 on page 4?

I have been out of town traveling but yes- it was #231. Why was that taken off?

I believe that designer was banned from competing. You should contact an admin or a moderator for additional information..

Although very dissapointed in the proccess as many good designs were taken down, we have narrowed it down to two designs and will post the winner tomorrow (6/23). We want to thank everyone who submitted designs. thanks!

If designs were removed by Moderators, it is due either to Copyright infringement, or a designer who is supposed to be banned trying to sneak in a design with another username. (And a designer would have been banned for doing things like Copyright infringement, or constantly stealing other designers' ideas.)

LogoTournament is moderated by volunteers who try their best to keep the contests clean of issues, but with over 5,600 designers (and growing), hundreds of contests, and maybe 10(?) moderators that I know of, every once in a while something that shouldn't be there slips in.

But this is BY FAR the best place to get a logo designed, in my humble opinion, if you want many designs from many designers and the best cost-to-quality ratio I have ever seen on any website like this.
