What We Do
a. iBird products are reference topics contained on portable devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, Smartphone’s like the iPhone, such that the information is accessible in an intelligent manner not possible with books. Interactivity, multimedia, search ability, intelligent look up, sound and vast amounts of information are some of the highlights of the products. Currently the brand is expressed in an extremely popular product called iBird Explorer for the iPhone which turns the iPhone into a field guide to birds. In the future there will be products such as iBird Guide to Dogs, iBird Mechanics Bible, iBird Guide to Animals and Plants, etc.

I am so blown away by the response to this auction, all of you are wonderful designers, and I am very impressed with the creativity and commitment to tweaking your work. I wish there could be more than one winner.

(A) The reason I like #90 (ranked #1)

1. I like the way the bird is abstract - the ones that use a "cartoonish" bird seem too much like twitter's icon and while they are playful they lack the sophistication I am looking for.

2. I like that the logo does not loudly yell the idea of "bird". The subtle nature is much more reflective of our ideas since iBird is not just a birding product, its a brand for ebooks of all types.

3. I also like the colors, because green and green or green and orange are the shades used in the color scheme of our product at http://www.ibird.com - the iPhone app in the banner floating above the ground - the background is green and the buttons are a different shade of green and the bird itself is orange. So use of that color would be nice but its not mandatory.

(B) The reason I like #100 (ranked #2)

1. Its very elegant, has dynamic movement. Font could be better.

(C) The reason I like #30 (ranked #3)

1. Really really clever putting the "i" inside the "B"

Goofy,

due to the prize money on offer here you are going to get a very large amount of entries. to make things easier both for you and for the designers could you please rank and move designs to 'not interested' each time you log in? (not leaving anything as "new / unranked")
it just keeps things much tidier this way and prevents designers from being lost in "unranked" not knowing if you like their design or how to further develop it.

thanks!

It would be nice if we were given some notice, I think those of us who were working on something have completely wasted time, as it wont even be uploaded :/
Congrats Sean, it is a great design :)

Gosh I am sorry if I caused any of you designers problems, I thought it was fine to end the contest early and move on. I can see how it might be a problem if you had done work hoping it would be accepted as the winner but even if I gave a warning, how would I be sure everyone read it. And how long a warning. That just seems to complicate things. I sure didn't expect such a huge volume of ideas, but that seemed like a good thing. Anyway I will be back here with more job requests as well as showing the site to all my friends and workers so in the long run there will be more opportunities for everyone. Heck I wish I could have bought the first 14 ranked logos as they are all great.

You have every right to end the contest early goofy, giving a warning is just a courtesy call to all designers who are working on something, while they probably wont win, their being able to upload their design allows them a sense of satisfaction that they didnt completely waste time, at least the design got seen etc.

Oh okay now I get it, seeing your work up here is a good feeling, even if there is no winning. And I see the meaning of gold, silver etc now.
