a stylized or modernized update of the old version is an option but not a necessity. we are open to a fresh interpretation as long as its in line with the mission.

We've uploaded another image for reference and ideas. We'd be interested to see some logos that are a more raw updated version of the current/original Hidalgo logo. White or transparent background is preferable to the black shown in the second image, however. A dark background would primarily be used on shirts and/or web design. The second image is merely a quick mock-up for the idea or rawness. An urban teen audience might be something to focus more toward as well. Ministry is in low-income apartments, but not in a "downtown" urban setting.

The first logo is our standard logo. The new contest-created logo will be used especially with teens and t-shirts and such. You may try using the second uploaded image as a starting point (though with white background). That is more the feel we are currently aiming for--a stylized, more "hip" version of the standard logo. The tagline can still be included if it fits.

The second logo with black background is the style we currently prefer. On that logo, however, we'd like more boldness in the font, so it would be easily readable on a T-shirt. The font used for "idalgo" is dearJoe 1 M&S. All caps is an option for that part as well to increase readability. The font for the "H" is currently Dear Joe Four. Possibly increasing the boldness of both would help. We prefer the cross angled toward the right as in the original logo. While we are not set on it having to be the Dear Joe font family, so far, that has the feel we like the best.

The submitted options we like best so far have taken the look of the second uploaded logo (using Dear Joe fonts), added the tag-line and made the font more bold. We've also realized that some of the T-shirts we use this on will be printed with a single ink color, so we'd like to look at how the logo would look in monochrome as well.
