Georgia Driving AcademyLogo Design Contest

Let me make this one comment to everyone. Even though it's a training school for trucking and also for bus driving, probably the biggest billboard they will have for displaying this logo is on the side of semi-trucks (18 tractor trailers) along with their phone #, so you have to be able to envision this logo looking good on the side of the trailer.

I just logged back in after a crazy day and have a ton of submissions to rank and do feedback. I will be away from the computer for the next 2-1/2 hours. Will get back in after that and start going through it all!!!

This is a loose ranking at this point. When I'm down in the last day before selecting 3 designer to work with for the next 2 days I tend to group designers logos together so I can see some of the variations next to each other in the ranked column. Don't look at so much what # you are at the moment, but whether you are in the to 3-5 designers.

OK, have gone through all the submissions and given feedback to many. I am going to keep each designers logos grouped together right now in the ranked column. I will wait for new entries back from feedback before I start to rank by logos more than just grouping designers. It's 1AM (EST in US) in the morning now and I have 17 hours left to select top 3 designers to work with. Will be logging back in about 10 hours or so. Going to go to bed and then have a morning meeting first thing. Log back in at 1030-1100AM (EST). Good night.

LOGO TOURNAMENT HAS EXTENDED THE OPEN PHASE FOR 2 MORE DAYS!! READ CHANGES BELOW.

I have had a change in the contest I didn't expect. The client has decided he wants to go more generic with his logo so he can add other types of training programs down the road that won't necessarily relate to driving a truck or bus anymore. It will be totally different careers/disciplines.

Instead of GEORGIA DRIVING ACADEMY he wants to be known more "generically" as GDA TRAINING, so there really isn't any imagery to pick up on since he wants to be more generic. So, the logo will probably be more type than anything else, maybe an abstract symbol or letterform logo. Red/Black are still the color requirements.

If you have provided something you liked previously and think it's adaptable to just saying GDA TRAINING now, go for it. I will be providing some feedback on logos maybe I think could be molded to the new name. Otherwise, feel free to give new or different submissions. There is no need to say anywhere in the logo what GDA stands for anymore. The way the client is going with the name it's generic now and no need to associate with Driving anymore. They have been in the driver training arena for a long time and people already call them GDA. Any new ventures they decide to train for will just know them as GDA from the start.

In order to clean this up a little bit, because of the name change, I am going to start moving logos out of the ranked column that say GEORGIA DRIVING ACADEMY vs. GDA TRAINING. If there is a logo concept that I think could maybe be transitioned into GDA TRAINING I will keep it towards the bottom of the ranked column and give feedback accordingly until new logos come in just saying GDA TRAINING.

Finally cleaned up. Still kind of grouped by designer a little bit in ranked column. Put any new submissions to the top that have GDA TRAINING now vs. old name. Waiting for quite a few new submissions taking logos with old names (that I kept towards the bottom) until I have replacements. Over the next 1-1/2 days we will sort through new submissions and begin placing them in ranked column and move "old names" to 3rd column to clean things up. Then towards end of the Open Phase we will group by Top 5 designers to work with for 2 more days. Hope that sounds like a game plan.
