What We Do
Flats Class is a TV show, website and seminar series that is focused on helping inshore saltwater anglers catch more fish.
Industry
Sport
Color Preferences
Single color. Black or gray on white/reversible. Shades of gray would be OK as well.

If you just HAVE to do something four-color, go for it. Our printer can do anything for a price. If we like the design enough we'll pay. Same with gradients.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
THIS IS A TEE SHIRT DESIGN SPECIFICALLY. It should fit nice on the back of a tee shirt and have elements we can pull and use on the front, sleeves, etc.

Here's our website: www.flatsclass.com. You can see our logo all over it, but the shirt design need not use the actual logo. We know the logo is nothing special.

Likes: Von Dutch, flames, pin-striping, gothic, tattoos, Bettie Paige, Rat Fink, Heavy Metal (the movie and the music), Skeletons/Skulls, Linkin Park, Johnny Cash, Aerosmith.

Ramblings: Helicopter view of a flats boat turning the water to fire. Images of fish in the wake... An elegant full-back tattoo with lots of pin-striping illustrating a bouquet of fish species... Angry fish vs. angry angler... Pretty much anything cool will have a shot.

Fish examples to emulate if you see fit: Snook, redfsih, tarpon, permit, cobia, sea trout.

Boat examples: see http://www.rangerboats.com/seriesSaltwater.cfm. Skiffs and Bay Boats. Stylized technical drawings of these boats would be cool.

I will be happy to provide any elements that I can. Please ask if you need something.

Winner gets a free shirt as well!

Please read the brief in full. Only inshore fish will work. No sharks. No billfish. You can find examples of inshore fish with a quick Google. Snook, redfish and tarpon are three good ones.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monitary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

Sunardipw put up #5 and #6 with skeleton ideas. This should not discourage other designers from taking a crack at a skeleton concept.

see: http://www.helterskeletons.com/

We talked with these guys about a shirt design at some length, and may still have them do something for us. The skeleton/skull/bones or whatever concept fits the basic brief profile and unique takes on the idea of using a skeleton are fair game for everybody.

#5 and #6 are a start, but are a long way off from what I hope will be the final. I want a lot more energy, realism, raw power. The Helter Skeleton stuff looks mean and scary. We just want mean. Mean and beautiful? Does that make any sense?

Anybody out there working on this one? If it's a bad idea, or there's some fatal flaw in the concept tell me now.

#10 is pretty tough. Maybe a little too tough, but very cool. Still looking for that elegant, hard, tattooish pinstripe job.

Also - feel free to think vertical. Something that will run the full length of a shirt.

Colorful Ornamental fishes are ok ?

No, only inshore gamefish. Snook, redfish (red drum), tarpon would be the top three. Also Permit and spotted sea trout, maybe cobia.

Very few (two!) viable entries with less than two days to go. I have decided to extend the contest by 5 days, as I will not be available for a good part of the next 48 hours.

My wife just had a cool idea. How about a roadside billboard advertising "Flats Class" as a fictional tropical adventure destination? If you've ever driven to the Florida Keys, you know what I'm talking about. Full color would be fine.

A few entries trickling in now.

#17 great retro look. Love the distressed style and the redfish is right on. Take it further with a bigger, bolder background.

#20 Cool, but a little too paintballish. If the splotches were more fluid, like plain old water, that might work better.

#21 Nice wings. Need to carry that style throughout. Replace main font, use a fish that fits the brief.

#23 Wasn't sure I would like the added color(s), but I do. PM'd with a couple of ideas.

#25 I like it. PM'd with a couple of small changes. Not sure where to take it from here.

Getting down to the wire.

Just so everybody knows, judging will take about 48 hours. We may very well make offers to buy more than one design.

If you are in the top five PLEASE do not withdraw you design for at least a week. I will PM you ASAP if we are going to make a cash offer.

I put #49 at first place right now so he can submit a change I had requested. We had a language barrier issue. Please do not withdraw any entries.
