Doing the hard yards for the environment
What We Do
Rebranding a charity to aim at wider market. Feral animals cause over $1 billion damage in Australia annually and are (with weeds) second only to habitat loss in their impact on biodiversity. But they are not sexy, because controlling them raises animal welfare/animal rights concerns
I've added in "The" to the organisation name - we could do it either way, but using "The" might give more options for giving an identity.
I've extended the competition for 2 days becau8se I'm in the field and can't view all the entries. Sorry if I haven't provided feedback to anyone, as the internet connection is dodgy.
Color Preferences
No preference. We are examining rebranding from scratch and don't have an established brand.
Getting a lot of green entires 1st day, so like to see them in other colours to try.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Feral animals are hard work but important to do something. We can't really use a "poster-child" animal as a brand because we don't want to demonise the animals doing the damage (although the cane toad could possibly fulfil this role and 9/10 australians are concerned about them).
Other environmental organisations have chosen a rare species (ultimate is Pandad for WWF) (look at bilby for Australian Wildlife Conservancy). However, this branding strategy appeals to "cute and cuddly" emotions whereas our work takes on ferals more head-on. We think there is a market in an environmetal organisation confronting the "hard" issue head-on.
I'm quite willing to look at ones with a bit of fun in them - we have to do different things to be noticed. Serious issue and seriously addressed but no need to be another depressing environmental group.
