Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for the Designers' hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

Thanks to all designers that have entered our contest so far. It is a pleasure to see so many creative heads working on our brands name and we are really happy with what we received yet.

In addition to our contest brief we would like to add some general information that we think might be helpful to all participants.


Style of lettering:
As the logo will be initial used for the German market it´s writing needs to be clear and easy to read. Even though a lot of international brands are well established in Germany the language itself is not every ones taste. Any kind of decoration or trimming should keep that in mind.

Symbolism:
Please do not include any suggestion in form of a real cigarette as the market is moving away from that hardware design completely.
Smoke is okay, as electronic cigarettes do indeed produce smoke(steam). But please use this in a restraint way, as the association with real cigarette smoke is not positive due to its bad smell and unhealthy contents.

Colors:
As there were nearly no colors in the entries so far we would like to make the following general statements to the use of colors. Overall: In the beginning the logo will mainly be used on bright backgrounds. It should also work on other backgrounds, but please focus on bright ones first.

The goods are designed for everyday-use so the most sold hardware-colors are black, white and silver (aluminium). Even bronze and copper has had some sale. In the future it also might be colors like blue, red or green, as the market moves away from their previous hardware designs that were based on real cigarettes. In opposite the color gold does not seem to meet the customers taste at all so far. But as crowns are usually golden we do not want you to leave that color alone. But keep in mind that it should not be a major color.
Greytones might give an association to real cigarette smoke, which has a bad smell and unhealthy contents (as already above mentioned at symbolic). It is again okay to use that association, but please in a discrete way.

Until now we miss some color accents in the entries so far. That does not mean that we are especially looking for that, but it might be a common way to fresh-up the project. But keep in mind that any color needs to be replaceable.

As the number of entries is getting higher we want to keep the first page clean of suggestions that we think will not lead to a workable result. We will also sort out on some variations on designs that we like, but meanwhile got replaced by better versions. So please don´t think we are done yet ;)
