Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank a variety of designs to get a variety of entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked 1st - 10th. We like to earn points.
~~ After your contest closes it will enter Judging phase. You can re-rank designs in Judging.
~~ While in Judging, the designer ranked in first place can submit revisions

Thank you for your entries, I will be ranking these later today. #s 4&7 are two that seem to be the most widely accepted by the members of our group. #4 had nice clean lines while #7's use of the globe was viewed as favorable by some. There was some discussion, questions really about just how recognizable the puzzle pieces would be in smaller scale reproductions.

We believe the outer layer of the earth’s surface, the topsoil layer, is perhaps the most underappreciated natural resource we have. Since chemicals feed the plant and compost feeds the soil, it is logical, in fact essential, that we recycle back to the earth in the form of compost. (Though compost is not the only product we make) This replenishes the biology that makes healthy soil that is full of life.

That said, the revision illustrated in #8 attempts to show this, but we believe the message gets a bit lost in the reproduction of this logo on a small scale. New entries #9 and #10 have potential, we like the use of the globe. The challenge is to communicate the logical earthly benefits of recycling back to the soil. #4 remains at the top. We like the clean lines; it appears to have an earth’s surface with life both above and below. Thanks for your ongoing efforts; all of the logos have appeal.

I find today's (May 1) Google home page interesting. At first glance (to the naked eye) there appears to be no movement (life) in the graphic design. Then you move your mouse over portions and you see the activity. This is a lot like photosynthesis above ground and the microbes in the soil. You can't see them without a microscope. Is this an easy technology to apply to an electronic version of a logo? I don’t want to get too off track; the vast majority of our logo applications are not electronic.

We appreciate the work here. We are hoping to find something not too busy, but with a bit more "punch".

Thanks to all for your efforts. I think we are getting close. I am uncertain if I am "suposed" to do this but for the benifit of our group I ranked the entries this time with similarities in mind. It is my goal to maintain integrity in this process for the benifit of the designers.

Thanks again,
Steve
