Top Three Things to Communicate
#1 - Timeless, Sophisticated and Classic Portraits
#2 - Warm, Fresh Look
#3 - Exciting, Edgy and Fun (for the senior market)
Our Target Audience:
The target market is higher-income families with disposable income. Parents or adults are the purchasers, but for teens and seniors - they influence their parents in choosing us as well as what types of portraits they want taken. Photography is generally sought out by female clients. We also do business portraits and pet photography and also have two niche areas: digital photo painting (making the photograph look like it was painted), and fine art shots of Memphis, Tennessee, USA landmarks. We are not targeting weddings. The current temporary web site with some sample images is at http://www.dreamweaverartists.com.
Color Preferences
Please bring your creativity to this. The logo will be used for copyright watermarks on images and may be printed in the corner of promotional photos that hang in retail stores, malls, etc. Would be GREAT if a light version could be used on dark backgrounds and a dark version for light backgrounds. We like rich and/or bright colors - if we like a design but not the colors we'll let you know. We realize this is going to be a highly collaborative effort and will attempt to provide feedback at least twice a day. The logo should still be pleasing if converted to black and white.
I'd like to be able to embroider the logo on shirts and caps, If you use drop shadows (actually I like them), the logo without the drop shadows should still be 95% intact and good for embroidery.
Our Ideas and Additional Information:
We THINK WE would like a symbol or icon in addition to having the "Dreamweaver Artists" name included, [EDIT] but we are also considering just "initial" icons using "DA" or just an logo with the name with no icon.[END EDIT] Please don't submit American Indian "dreamcatcher" designs - that's not what we're trying to associate with. No Gary Wright associations either (LOL).
The logo needs to convey that the studio is known for its rich creativity. It needs to be simple, not complex, something with which people can immediately identify. Classy and/or Edgy, but not "cute".
I like the three top concepts in "Blushing Crow Studios" tournament. All of them are simple and the icons are immediately recognizable. I just wish I had an icon idea to guide you.

Diamond Contest
We're sorry, but this contest is presently open to a limited pool of designers.
To all the designers: I want to let you know that the collaborative nature of this contest is not lost on me, and I will certainly attempt to provide you timely feedback, at least once a day and hopefully twice. I will also provide feedback on each design. Let's have fun with this!
I've spoken by private message with a couple of designers that indicate that copycatting can be a problem here. I want everyone to feel that if you submit a design that you will be rewarded for your work, so I want to announce we will be watching for this.
Our web site address may be too buried in the brief and you may miss it. So go to http://www.dreamweaverartists.com to see the type of portrait photography we will be doing.
For the designers: As we wind down on the contest, we've come to realize we prefer an icon consisting of the initials of the business, but are still open to other concepts. This is why you see a lot of the initial's icons on the short list. Also you will notice that all of them are hand-drawn and if not, are not standard fonts. This gives an artistic flair to the icon which implies elegance (as long as the drawing is graceful). I've tried to provide feedback to all designers, maybe not on every submission but I've tried to tweak the submissions or plainly indicate what I like or don't like.
There is a little over a day left, and thank you all for your continued participation.
There are 5 hours left and the submissions are getting faster. I don't want anyone's feelings to be hurt but I'm having to get "to the point" quickly so please don't take offense - I am not trying to offend anyone.
