What We Do
CrossFit improves a dedicated person's fitness by programming metabolic conditioning programs that feature constantly varied functional movements done at a high intensity. Functional movements include the best movements from gymnastics (ex. push-up, pull-up), weightlifting (deadlift, snatch), and cardio (rowing, running 800M or less)
Industry

Color Preferences
No purple or pink. If used, we prefer black to be a secondary color.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
BACKGROUND:
Even with higher membership fees than area CrossFit and Globo-gyms, CrossFit Chicago (CFC) has experienced tremendous growth over the past 18 months and has outgrown their physical space. During this growth period, the core target audience has shifted away from elite athletes towards the average “Joe” looking to get into better shape. Along the way, housewives, students, and older (50+ years) clients have begun to fill the ranks alongside former collegiate and high school athletes. With the space filled to the seams on most nights, the energy pulsates through the room and the community comes together in their daily ritual of going through the constantly varied workout of the day.
The community often gathers outside of the “box”, which the term is affectionately thrown around to replace the more commonly known word gym, to attend social events revolving around philanthropies, competitive athletics, and holidays.
With two new locations (Lincoln Park and West Loop) launching within the next 30 to 60 days, the CFC community will experience the elevation of CrossFit Chicago into an elite CrossFit facility catering to the fitness needs of the entire community.

POSITIONING STATEMENT:
With elite-level coaches, better client to coach ratios, optimized programming, specialized niche classes, and top notch facilities, CrossFit Chicago is the standard and leader of the Chicago CrossFit community

OTHER NOTES:
The logo must be flexible enough where we can incorporate the name of each locations (Lincoln Park and West Loop) within the space. For example, we will offer a "CrossFit Chicago Lincoln Park" t-shirt and a "CrossFit Chicago West Loop" t-shirt. "CrossFit Chicago" will always remain within the logo.

WATCH OUTS:
Please do not use an "X" or a cross of any sort.
Barbells and Kettlebells are either overdone or too aggressive for our liking. We want to cater to women as much as we do men. With that in mind, avoid any biceps or flexing as we care more about total body fitness and not about Mr. Universe contests.

A mention to all designers: We recently looked at a logo design that reminded us of an inspirational logo that we really liked, the two Chicago Olympic bid logos. If you choose to use the Olympiclogos as muses, please avoid that particular color combination. Nonetheless, the font is simple and direct and the graphic is memorable and communicates leadership, aspiration, and a host of things that we aim to be. Once again, this is just an inspirational piece that we recently came across and we could still select another logo that was inspired by something totally different.

We are seeing a lot of great designs here that feature emblems. We would love to see more simple logos within the wordmark or abstract mark realm.

To Designers, please take the time to read through the entire brief. We know there is quite a bit of information in there and even some video links, but we believe the information will be helpful for your inspiration. Please note that "CrossFit Chicago" is a singular brand name, like American Express. Therefore, both should be given equal footing in the logo design. They can be separated (stacked), but the font size and treatment should be the same for each word.

Thanks again for all designers. Please note that a winner will not awarded tonight as we want to sleep on it and go through all of the logos again with fresh eyes. If there is considerable debate tomorrow, we may not even award on Sunday, but we do anticipate this process being over on Monday and we appreciate your patience. The work is fantastic and with a few hours left to go, we hope to see even more entries.

Please note that we decided to extend the contest another day since we can't do anything with a logo on a Saturday night or Sunday morning anyway. We'll continue to provide feedback and we look forward to more submissions.

Thank you to everyone that participated. It is going to be a rough decision since there were a few that we really liked. If you guys have any feedback for us, we would appreciate it as well since we may use Logo Tournament in the future and we would like to provide you guys as much as possible.

It is going to take us about 48 hours to decide, but if you have any questions or comments, please let us know.

Thank you for asking us for feedback. As a contest holder you provided a lot of feeedback to the designers and asked our opinions throughout the contest. You were very attentive to your logo and kind to the designers that tried to create what you wanted. We hope you do use LT in the future.
Thanks again, Don
