#49 - Very cool design lucky kid. We think you have a great sense of the tone and attitude that we are looking for. Do you have any options without the loop around the brand name? We aren't sold yet on the idea of having something go across our name as we haven't been fully established in the marketplace. Great start though.
Sure thing. I'm glad you like my design. I'm originally from South Bend and used to go to Chicago every once in a while. What a great city. Crossfit has interested me since I saw a guy in Miami wearing their local Crossfit shirt. I'd love to workout like that if I hadn't been in a car accident four years ago that caused problems with my back. Maybe someday I'll be able to workout like that. We need a Crossfit here in Naples.
LuckyKid - CrossFit is great and we hope you can get into it at some point. What's great about crossfit is that everything can be scaled and even the injured and workout. There are some great stories out there of amputee soldiers doing crossfit workouts. Really inspiring.
In terms of your work, this is coming along nicely. We struggle with the darkness of #67 and #66. The lighter feel of #69 would appeal to our masses more. Great use of the skyline too. Very original to put it off center. The a and the star still seems awkward. We like the idea of the star, but it seems like it is being forced in there right now. Explore the star and a combination some more and see if anything seems to be more fluid. Otherwise, this is a strong contender and we appreciate your work.
Thank you for the feedback. I know someday I'll be able to push my workouts even more. Physical therapy had help some but conflicting doctors suggestion extreme measures.
I'll do my best to make this a winning look for you. Of course with my design the choice of colors can dramatically alter the look and it will look great in a variety of color schemes. Look for more entries soon. And I can always make modifications even after the contest if need be.
Thanks Kent for these new logos. The star is just overpowering now and the great nuances of the location and the skyline are being lost. Feel free to play around some more and see what happens. I think the energy is there and you are hitting our immediate needs, now we are just fine tuning. If you can bring aspirational into the mix, we would like to see that as well. Thanks again and we hope rehab is going well.
Thanks for the new round of creative Kent. The starred logos are forcing the "aspirational" component and it would be fantastic if we reverted back to your simpler work. We find that the brand name is the most important aspect of the log a graphic component can share the stage, but it should never overpower the brand names, especially one that isn't well established.
The circles are great looking, but it won't work for us. #69 has some great components and we hope you can take the inspiration you found there and find other options.
#111 is a lot lighter now and we like that. The simplicity has returned. Do you think you can clean up the "a" and the star anymore? If not, that's fine. We are just fine tuning now. In terms of your note about gradients, can you flatten the highlights and still have the lighter feel?
Thanks. I can make any modifications you want and I think the gradient look is nice for magazine and TV but for shirts and other products the solid colors work better in terms of production.
I have to run out with my wife, she's 33 weeks pregnant. I'll try to get back before the contest ends. If not I can still make adjustments if you chose mine.
Your color combinations have inspired us to venture out more and take a look (like you predicted). Sorry for the late notice, but if you can turn this around, we would be greatly appreciate it:
We recommend using #114 as the base, we are still discussing gradient and highlights vs none. We would love to see the color combinations in #102, #89, #87, #91, and #97 implemented. We didn't gravitate towards any other color combos you put up, but if you have others you want to try, feel free.
#122 and #123, we like the forward thinking, but we are going to shy away from anything that limits the full potential impact of our logo, meaning our brand name gets smaller towards the back and as a non-established brand, we need every inch of T-shirt space we can get.
One thing that usually happen to me is when I'm ranked first there will be a lot designers will copy. If you choose my design but want other color variations I can provide them. I think with this type of logo it will be nice to use it in a variety of colors. Thanks - Kent
Kent, I think you did fantastic work, so don't worry about if there was anything else you could have done. I think you gave us a great range to go through. Hopefully we'll see you at CrossFit Chicago sometime.
