Our Ideas & Additional Information
Look at other local government sustainability offices to get ideas. West Palm Beach's sustainability website www.wpb.org/sustainability. This logo will be the face of our sustainability action plan currently underway. This document is a 20-year comprehensive roadmap with goals, objectives, and programs to implement into the community and municipal government operations. The logo will be somewhat of a letterhead type logo. Motivate people to be involved, grab attention, and simplify a complex issue to help the public understand the goals of our efforts. We would like to incorporate a 1 to 2 word tag line to add to "West Palm Beach." Also please view the sustainability logo on the City of Cleveland's website...simple and incorporates several sustainable elements.

Discussion

#1 & #2: Really not the direction we were looking to go, does not identify sustainability, limit use of red in overall design, looks too much like a city seal.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you will see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested".
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for the Designers' hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

Entries #3, #4, #5, #6, #7: We need something that represents sustainability along with the City theme. Take a look at the following website as an example: http://www.city.cleveland.oh.us/CityofCleveland/Home/Community/ThingsToDo/AISummit

Cleveland's logo shows the City but also the sustainability efforts with the water and leaf and it is encased in a gear to show how it fits into the overall fabric of the City and community.

Please also look at our sustainability website: wpb.org/sustainability to see other graphics we have used as well as the exhibits that we attached to this contest. In our attached exhibits we had used the style and form of vector graphics, not a required element but we like the fresh feel of these designs.

The Town of Palm Beach is adjacent to the City of West Palm Beach so if West Palm Beach is incorporated into the design please be sure to keep "West Palm Beach" together in the design.

We like Entry #8 and entry #11. If we could get a combination of those two logos without the cog. Possibly incoporate the palm tree into the logo instead of the leaf if that works. We like the etched City that is less congested shown in entry #11.

Entry #11 should have a more vibrant green similar to entries #9 or #10. This entry should also lighten the orange area with the city background, think more tropical.

We want the logo to immediately express sustainability/go green.

Text: Please remove "Office of Sustainability" from all logos. We are looking for a one or two word phrase to represent the office and sustainability efforts. Please play with the text of the "City of West Palm Beach" to get something in between entry #8 and entry # 11.

To all designers: LESS BUILDINGS IN THE SKYLINE...WE LIKE THE AMOUNT OF SKYLINE WITH THE WHITE ETCHED BUILDINGS IN ENTRY#11. POSSIBLY ADD A PALM TTHE FOLLOWING TEXT SHOULD GO AROUND THE LOGO, "RETHINKING PARADISE," CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH CAN BE INCLUDED OR SEPERATE. THE TEXT WRAPING AROUND CAN EITHER BE INCORPORATED INTO THE LOGO OR NOT.

For anyone doing buildings we still like the white with etching/windows, however, West Palm Beach has smaller buildings without spires and the City Hall has a small dome. All of the designs are looking great. Thanks again.

We are very close to deciding and appreciate all participants. We are trying to extend the contest to refine the top four entries in order for us to make a decision. All artists please see comments and try to apply to your design:
* Really like the hand and leaf circling the logo and the way the 'City of West Palm Beach" fits around the logo with the blue line in #43. Need to add more fade in green circle.
* # 63 & 64: City is to tall, take off spires and incorporate hand and leaf from #43.
* 58 & 60: City too orange, incorporate hand and leaf into design.
