We like the tropical look of entry #16, however, the City is not on the ocean. Entry #16 just leave "rethinking paradise." We like the colors in the logo besides the black buildings. Also the designs really don't show environment in terms of sustainability. Maybe instead of the arrow head could it be a leaf, we like the fade of the green color on the border.
We are very close to deciding and appreciate all participants. We are trying to extend the contest to refine the top four entries in order for us to make a decision. All artists please see comments and try to apply to your design: * Really like the hand and leaf circling the logo and the way the 'City of West Palm Beach" fits around the logo with the blue line in #43. Need to add more fade in green circle. * # 63 & 64: City is to tall, take off spires and incorporate hand and leaf from #43. * 58 & 60: City too orange, incorporate hand and leaf into design.
Can you make the fading of the green in entry #43 look like entry #42? We like the lighter green.
We also like the shade of blue in the second ranked entry. Can you change the water to that color?
Did you try and change the buildings from black to white, we are in south florida and the black just seems heavy, maybe a dark blue too...
Hi Contest Holder. I'm working on the adjustments you requested, unfortunately I can't submit them because the contest is in "JUDGING MODE", that means only the first place ranked can submit adjustments or other proposals. So could you be so kind of rank me? then I can submit the changes you requested and you can make a desicion of the top four designs.
Thanks for making the updates...the lighter green matches better with our south Florida tropical look. Can you make the palm trees and the bird white in #70 and add windows in both #70 & 69? Thank you!
Really like the latest design! We're getting some feedback from other team members - can you use the same design as # 74, but play with the way you do the city's name, not just have it circle the logo? Thanks.
Can you try making the water look more like a water drop by rounding the corners? We got some feedback that the sustainability components don't pop enough when you first see it. We want your first thoughts to be - sustainability, fresh, modern, take action. Also, the 'rethinking Paradise' is a little hard to read - can you use a different font that is cleaner? Thanks.
Good afternoon, so the competition is very close we really like your designs. We do however would like to see your designs, especially the blues in entry #80 to be richer similar to entry #83. It almost seems like entry #80 has a shine to it instead of an inner glow.
Sorry we are being so picky but this logo will be on so many various types of media all around the City and community!
O.k. no problem, I'm working on more options of blue. I'll give you 3 options of the entry #94 so you can pick one. Then if you want we can apply that water drop to entry #95. Thanks again!
This is from our in house graphics designer - please address her issues. Most people I've spoken to feel the same way about the white buildings. We are very happy with the results and appreciate your responding to our suggestions! Thanks!
I really want to like the white skyline instead of the dark blue one shown in Comp #2 for the psychological merit of white...but I don't. I like the dark one. The contrast really snaps it off the page compared to the rest. (Back up and blur your eyes...which logo do you see first?) I also prefer the darker blue water. It looks deeper, richer, and there's more contrast between the water and the leaf. Contrast is luscious. The more, the better. It's a very pretty logo.
FONTS: City of West Palm Beach font - it's okay; not awful, but not great. It's not as clean and classic as I would expect of a gov't org. (I prefer more sturdy, clean and classic fonts for institutional logos because trendy fonts will eventually date the look. It may be more 'boring' but it's better to convey stability, durability, dependability, we're here forever, etc.) On the other hand, you could argue that you DON'T want to look like a gov't institution. You may want to come off more experimental, fresh and dynamic. Either way, I'm not crazy about that font. Can he just plug in some other faces for comparison?
The 'Rethinking...' line is a clean font with no stylistic weirdness, and he's got it popping from a contrasting color, but it's just too small to read unless you're always going to feature your logo the size shown in the comps. That may be a little bit big. What do you think you'll be using the logo on? You'll always have it for stationery and web-based media, but you may also make baseball caps, magnets, bumper stickers, pins, etc. I think it would work on everything except for the problem of the tiny windows and the tiny Rethinking phrase.
There's one last comment, and this is pretty fussy, but I'd fix it if the art was mine for the tweaking: the tip of the leaf cuts into the green border, and the white border around the fat end of the water droplet becomes very, very thin. Nowhere else in the logo is it that thin. It's bugging me. I'm not sure if he should thicken the white border around the drop, or just let the drop overlay the green border with no apologies, but the results could blend better. My eye keeps going back to that one point.
BOTTOM LINE: The logo with the dark buildings is the winner, but I would have him create some variations using 'City of WPB' and 'Rethinking.." in different placements and font styles.
Firstable let me tell you that I delated my previous entries so you don't get confuse with so many options I sent you. After I read your last coments I began working hard in your project, so you can be completely satisfied and this is the result:
I fixed the problem you saw about the white border around the drop of water. Is the same font, and the same font placement (this comment refers to entry #108)
After that, I started to work with different font styles with the same font placement (this comment refers to entries #109, #110, #111 and #112)
And different font placement with different font styles (this comment refers to entries #113, #114, #115, #116, #117, #118, #119 and #120)
As you can see you have many options that in my opinion can work pretty well. I hope you like them. Thanks.
Comments referring to entry #110: 1. The blues in buildings and water need to be a more tropical/carribean blue, lighter. 2. Please remove the bubble effect at the top 3. Can you give us some variations on the glow of the sky. Possibly show the sun from behind buildings with rays of light going from behind buildings up to the sky to better represent energy. 4. As far as font we like the "rethinking paradise" font in #110. 5. Could the buildings be a different color, say grey or some other color?
As an overall comment, it doesn't look modern enough, looks a little too traditional.
