What We Do
To support the Commercial Driver Training School sector (truck driver training schools) by providing programs beneficial to students, the Transportation industry, and safety professionals.

They do utilize the "full name" so people know who they are, but also go by "CDTF" a lot in communications as an acronym for the organization. Need to use both in the logo.
Industry
Miscellaneous
Color Preferences
Vibrant to Dark Blue is the clients favorite. They said last time they did a logo they rejected every other color, so lets work within this color for now until we narrow to 5 designers and we can then take a logo or two at that point and apply a different color.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
They do utilize the "full name" so people know who they are, but also go by "CDTF" a lot in communications as an acronym for the organization. Need to use both in the logo.

Concerning logo style & concept the client told me: "Three of these categories above are mostly letters so I would say we would be safe going with strong lettering and a formal symbol of some kind. Just letter would work for me also. Something that sits up and says I am a great foundation...remember me! I want something that will be memorable and give the feeling that this is a serious foundation doing important work for the industry. The Education and Military aspects speak to a somewhat formal logo as opposed to a whimsical logo."

Logo Designer
Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ You, the Client, are very important! Your active participation is the single greatest factor influencing this contest. Active participation by you, the Client, helps you get the logo design you want!
~~ What's active participation? It's updating the brief with more information for Designers to work with as the contest progresses, providing feedback to Designers on their entries when they're submitted, and ranking designs at least once a day.
~~ When you provide feedback to Designers, you increase the chances of getting the logo you want. More feedback = better results!
~~ Leave private feedback by clicking on a design. Feedback will be made public upon contest completion.
~~ Rank designs at least once each day -- this will encourage Designers to submit more entries!
~~ Ranking prevents your contest from going idle! Active contests attract more Designers.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed. Unless your contest is Private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Please note: if you're asking for a design that will require several hours to create, to attract Designers willing to invest that amount of time the prize should be at least $400-$500. All "Character" style logos fall into this category.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested." We'd like to know what you don't want so we can give you the design you do want.
~~ The first phase of the contest is the "Open" phase, and everyone can submit during that time.
~~ After your contest's initial "Open" phase closes, it will enter the "Top 5" phase; only the top 5 ranked Designers will be able to submit revisions at that time.
~~ The "Top 5" Designers are the first 5 Designers in a contest, not the first 5 designs.
~~ When "Top 5" ends, the "Judging" phase begins. The Designer of the 1st place design will be the only Designer who can submit revisions at that time.

Let's keep logos on white background for now since there will be many applications that way. As I get down to the end I will ask for certain logos applied to a dark background to see what the application could be.

Any additional ideas/concepts would be helpful to have by Monday. I will be showing some initial ideas to client Monday and this will help determine the 5 designers we will continue to work with according to the client input. I am in the United States in the Eastern Time Zone to give an idea on timing of talking to my client. Will probably be in the afternoon. I am writing this right now at 10:49pm on Sunday to give you an idea of time difference in your respective time zones.

Everyone...the top 10 is a very loose ranking and sometimes I have two similar logos next to each other from the same designer. I'm trying to group a few things to look at it better and prepare a quick presentation to my client this afternoon in 1 hr. Don't be discouraged if your see multiples of same logo or yours lower, it's just a grouping for now. Just because someone is in #1 position right now doesn't mean that is a desired direction yet. I will have a better ranking at the end of the day after I am able to be discuss with client.

Client definitely wants to be able to read the foundation name spelled out. In many applications COMMERCIAL DRIVER TRAINING FOUNDATION was not readable enough in smaller applications such as business cards.

He isn't crazy about the over use of imagery for driving, such as steering wheels, roads, etc. unless done in an abstract way. Just been used so much in industry already, which unfortunately, doesn't lend itself to a ton of other images out there.

Another group of logos are out to my client for comment. I hope to hear something later on tonight. It's 530pm right now so I'm hoping they check their emails.

I have had to wait for 2 people to return from a conference. I have heard from 2 out of 3 people and waiting on the last one. I hope to hear from him before the end of the day and can select the winner between first two entries.
