Not much to go by there Daz.

Hey Bare, thanks for the startup, the name isnt " Art Something ", i just had the contest name like that because i still want you guys to come up with a nice, really cool name with a good ryhme and appealing, but its a must to be available in " .com " as explained in the brief.

So, lets start from there, and those who come up with a good name and backed up with a good logo they had on mind, will be an advantage and a good jump start for those.

Now, first of all, i want to welcome everyone of my fellow designers here, and i would really want you guys to give it your best shot as i created this contest because i do not want to be limited to a certain design / idea and i know what you are capable of giving here.

I know the prize money isnt big, but do it outta love to DAZ and out of enjoying and winning too, since the prize money will end up to someone here.

I will not use " not intrested " at all in this contest, everyone with his participation would get a blue ribbon, no matter how many entries he gets in, but i just do not want those entries with no effort " a circle with a dot in it " and just throw it in there.

Also, do not provide me with color variations or different fonts for now, if i didnt ask, keep it minimal and just an entry for a new concept.

I know those copycats and not so welcomed designers, without mentioning names, you know them too, if i see those, i'd be using the " not intrested " with them only, otherwise, everyone gets his entry ranked.

Ofcourse those ranked among the top 15 will be the ones really considered or favarouble, otherwise, you do not need to withdraw any of your entries, as they will be ranked and getting the blue ribbon too.

Now, give me some good names suggestions and logos after that, everything is explained in the brief, so you know what you are creating, what its for and who you are targeting by it.

I want the name to be " -----art.com " or " art------.com " , now you figure out what goes after or before that has a good ryhme, and will stick to people head, also we'd want a slogan to go with that name with a special ryhme meaning behined it.

Guys, its not neccessary at all to have the " middle east - me " in it, am more focused on the word " art " to be included somewhere in the name.

The name can have no meaning, but a good ryhme on the ear with the word " art " attached in it somewhere too.

Yeah, let them do that, there are always plenty of names and ways to get by.

Just help in making some good suggestions for the names an all, as well as the logo later :)

Daz, are we to understand that you want us to brainstorm your site name, to research it, and to create the logo for it - all for $250 less LT commission and Paypal fees? I don't mean to be cheeky, but it does sound like a lot for a little.

Yeah Retro i know its too much for 250$, i am doing this from my own pocket money, sorry i am not that rich or could afford to pay more for starting up on my small online project :)

I just asked my fellow designers friend help which is highly appreciated by me, no one is forced to participate or do the effort in helping me, but i've just asked their help in that too, since i cant figure out something good on my own :)

Now here is the deal guys:

Once we decide and settle on the name we will go with, whoever came up with that name suggestion will be guranteed a 2nd place spot ( silver trophie ) towards the end of the contest ok ? that in case the guy who suggested the name, did not come up with the winning logo for that name we will settle on.

Ofcourse, different designer will have a spot in the top 10, and as we know after the 10th, its all 1 point blue ribbons, which everyone had a shot will be getting anyways too.

I am liking " Articky " as it has a good sound ryhme to it, the word " art " and its short, would want to see more of such possibilities.

well, sean, i want names with no dashs or underscore between them, i know its tough, but i love the " Articky " and " Artzpool " ones, i want more of those, and also try names that would be " -----art " the other way around for more possibilities.

Having to research and choose the name actually makes our jobs easier. This is a fun contest.

Worry not about the logo design itself, now we are looking for a potential name, once we settle on it, which wont take long, i will put it up there so everyone works on a logo for that name picked up.

I will be cross checking at night with my Dad on all those to chose one.

Ofcourse you know rankings will change after that accordingly, but anyone who participates with any entry from this point till the end, leave it because it will be ranked and get something.

you mean the persons who's name you choose is not going to be the winner but who designs the the best logo...so designer A comes up with a brilliant name and then designer B uses that name and designs a great logo Designer B wins and leaves Designer A who came up with the name with nothing?

Ok, if we chose a name from a designer, i will send him 100$ to his paypal account, if his logo was not chosen a winner.

If the same designer who we decided to go on with his chosen name and he was the same one to win the contest, he will get the contest prize only.

So now, the one who i will get to use his suggested name, is guranteed a 2nd place + 100$.

Hope i am being fair enough.

I think that pretty much sums it up. I know it sucks, but Daz is dealing with the limitations of how logotournament works AND more importantly... he is one of us. It makes it fun. Bragging rights kind of fun.

i havent decided with the name yet, too early to talk about the winning logo. but anyways the winning name gets 100$ and 2nd place spot guranteed.

Hey Daz. I registered the name articky.com. I didn't want anyone else to hijack it. I'll turn it over to you if you decide to pick it, if not I'll use it somewhere myself. It's kind of a cool name.

:( can you think of something that has a greek ryhme to it at the end ? try that ? if it has or sounds good, i'd go for it, not neccessary to have a meaning, but looks good, sounds good and easy to read.

lol, no its ok, i told him and left a remark up at the begining i wont focus on the " middle east - me " word, but anything comes here, stays here and gets awarded, try to think us of some names.

ArtPolis = from the words Art and Polis which in Greek means City - a familiar word around the world as well

Keep the names coming, after 10 hours from now, a final name will be chosen and picked up to officially start creating a logo on that name chosen, will sit with dad in the morning, i will pick my favourite 5 against his favourite 5, those common ones will be narrowed and those that are not will be taken of for us when we chose, then we will sit and talk about each one of those narrowed down.

Also, keep in mind, when we chose the name, we will see how its compatable in arabic and when pronounced or written in arabic as well.

wow ..what a longest contest discussion I've ever seen..this should be an interesting contest

it is, i am having so much with you guys and i hope you are feeling the same, this is part 1, part 2 starts after a couple of hours once i declare the fixed name for everyone to start working on a logo design for it.

now i have at least 10 good names and they all have a good chance, keep `em coming, but am pleased with those names so far.

most of the designers participating here would go home with at least secured 20 - 30 points from the blue ribbons and having their entries ranked, thats like having a silver ( 30 point ) win, not bad ha ?

keep it coming with the names, then tomorrow the marathon for the logo design shall begin, and on that one, i am open to all types of logos, and i mean all types, i want to see all types.

no he bought it along time ago and he had it saved for himself, but he kindly offered it here, anyways articky did the same because it was already his from along time. if i decided to go with any of those lets say, they are willing to move its ownership to me.

the desicion will not be mine alone, its me and my Dad who is supporting me on this project and we will look into the names transfared into arabic, how they would sound / mean against the english one, so there is alot of factors to decide on the chosen name, if it works fine and fit for both languages, arabic / english.
