Thank you, it is wonderful to begin to see your concepts. This race is being run in memory of Dan Ring's wife and son - with the hope of raising awareness and hope for the children at St. Jude's. We will continually be reviewing all of the logos submitted to this contest. It is our hope that each of you will be inspired to produce many ideas. Art is an amazing gift...thank you for sharing your talents to "Share hope. Find cures. And, save children.

Each and every entry is welcome.

Thanks to everyone submitting your ideas to this logo. I am very excited to review your ideas. This is such an important event. We are hoping to have a diverse scope of entries to select from. These are all great starts - I like the clean graphic designs.

Now I am hoping to see some of you artists step outside the box. Think about HOPE - what would HOPE look like if it could be a picture? What images evoke hope? I am not sure it will be children, the hope is for wellness, and joy, and wholeness, and peace, and health. How could we bring those ideas to life in color more than in words. Think BOLD, BRIGHT, HAPPY images - we really want something immediately recognizable without having to read "A Ring of Hope". The words are important - but the images are more important. We what something new and radical and exciting. Something different. Something that when you see it - you say "I want one of those T-shirts!" I want it to be art.

This race is in memory of Dan Ring's wife who died in 2006 of colon cancer - and Dan's oldest son - Jason who was 33 years old when just a few short weeks ago he was killed in a tragic automobile accident.

This is a 71 mile relay run - from Jonesboro to St. Jude's in Memphis.

I'd like to see everything from cool stick people, to color blocking, to original characters, to an entirely different view.

After all of his loss. Dan Ring wants this run to be a run of Sharing HOPE! Let's see some color and some fun!

Also, I want the fonts to be larger and bolder and cooler. Think BIG.

Any color blocking ideas - with really BIG fonts?

We are running down to the final hours. I love seeing each of your ideas - see following:

Please look at these logos and see these ideas:

Looking for submissions that are less words - more feeling. Clean, original, not so busy. Focus on HOPE, or RING. I would like to see A Ring of Hope as an image.

FaceBook's logo - does not say Facebook. It is a logo - not words.

What image illustrates HOPE?

Can't wait to see your ideas...

Thanks so much - we are now in the final hours of the open phase. I would like to see a more variety. I am really liking some of the original designs. I would like to see more ideas that are not formatted in a circle - suggestions:
1. I am still not seeing a lot of color blocking entries.
2. Big and Bold ideas that will stand out on a t-shirt and still translate to stationary and invitations.
3. I would love to see some hand sketched original art rather than just clip art type graphics.
4. Some of you might enter some ideas that just say - A Ring of Hope with clean fonts. Maybe it is better to simplify the statement.
5. The real focus is on the word HOPE. I would like to see some entries that really make the word HOPE stand out above everything else.
6. We have had a lot of circular images to highlight a ring. But the real focus is on HOPE not a ring.
7. I would still like to see more block style images. Images that are square or rectangle can print well on shirts and mugs and caps (think of the Facebook logo).
8. Let your imagination run wild.
9. Jonesboro is in Arkansas - Memphis is across the Mississippi River. These runners are running 70+ miles across a bridge. Think of map images of Jonesboro to Memphis. There is a possibility that other cities around Memphis - like Jackson, TN and Tupelo, MS may join in the run.
10. We are hoping for hundreds and maybe more than a 1000 participates. What colors would stand out with 100s or 1000s of people wearing them?

Can't wait to see more.

What is the image of HOPE?

These are much closer. Only one hour left. Please submit any additional ideas. I would really still like to see blocks of color used in the background with the word HOPE very big.

I also would like to see some very simple word art using just - A Ring of Hope or A Ring of HOPE - in different and interesting fonts. Something classic and tailored - just to be able to show Dan Ring.

Dan lost his wife to colon cancer and his 33 year old son in a car accident only a few weeks ago - he wants to use this race to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in their honor. To bring hope to children with cancer.

Please continue to let your talents bless our efforts.

Great job with the shoe art! I am loving all of the creative last minute ideas. Any more running thoughts?
Plus I am really hoping jus for some very sophisticated word art / with various fonts. some thin - some think - but very clean and professional.

We will be reviewing all of these soon. And contacting the final 5... It should be later this afternoon - CST in the US.

Dan Ring has selected you as the front running designer at the present time with your Running R.

Please see the penciled drawings we have attached to the Contest Brief. Dan would first like to see images of the text and then he would like to have an image like the West Coast shirt dropped behind the words.

A Ring of Hope Relay - with the running R you have designed.

We look forward to seeing more ideas.

We are still in the process of finalizing our top 5. There are only a few more hours. Dan Ring is a 57 year old man who is 35 at heart - runs marathons and is deeply committed to raising money and awareness for to cure cancer for children. We are hoping for bold, bright, inspiring, original additional submissions. Please review the attached images we just added to the contest brief. Dan likes the style and feel of the West Coast race t-shirt.

No hearts, not cute-sy, Dan likes more "edgy" - not so soft. Dan has been through the tragedy of losing his wife and son and is now delighted to share HOPE. We want people to be inspired from 50 feet away.

These shirts should evoke energy and cutting edge technology - while still having a clean modern look.

Background of the shirt could be anything but - not pink.
worn with jeans or cargo shorts or to go running.

Please do not limit yourself to replicating this - we continue to want to see your personal creativity and ideas.

Thanks,

Allyson Lewis
