Department of Energy and Environment
The Department of Energy and Environment’s mission is to protect, restore and enhance the Town of Plymouth’s environment and natural resources for current and future generations and to do so using creative approaches and solutions based on science and collaboration. Furthermore, we aim to utilize restored natural systems, energy efficiency programs, alternative energy sources, and green infrastructure to mitigate the effects of climate change on our community and the world. The department has two divisions: Natural Resources comprised of scientists that work on acquiring land, restoring it through ecological and scientific means, and collecting data and maintaining those properties upon conclusion, and Sustainability and Resilience that oversees all sustainability, energy, and resiliency efforts within Town municipal government and the Plymouth community, either directly managing programs and projects or coordinating with other Departments and local organizations.
