And here is your design... Very nice, a strong and original one (and you handled the problem diplomatically!). I'll do a ranking and comment later tonight.
Thank you for the comment! It's a first try but i thought maybe if you have to use the logo on a small space (on jewellery?) it would be easier if the logo was compact to still be readable. I used those "earth" colors but tell me if you want to see a different motif or brighter colors! Also, this logo could be used in one unique color, and if used in very small, without the dragonfly inside the circle (or with a different design). I will try and submit other ideas later! Sophie.
Hi Sophie, yes you've made me think again with your submission. I didn't think I wanted earth tones at all, but your design and variations are very striking and you have thought the uses through very well. Maybe the dragonfly in the circle could be used alone sometimes in the website or as a tiny tag on the jewelry. Would be lovely made up in pewter or silver!
I will make just two comments/suggestions for now: bright orange and pink and blue zebra stripes are everywhere right now. When you have a moment, maybe you could try #72/#73 in two very bright acid colours and see what that's like.
#74 looks very trendy and up to the minute, and in a way in what I wanted to accomplish with my logo and with my company: surprise people with a new take on crafts in Kenya. The floral you have used gives the design an Asian flavour, which is not necessarily bad or strange. Some of the local fabrics we have used in our new collection do look almost Japanese when used in a new way. but when I get a minute, I will upload some snaps of local kangas to give you an idea of their flavour.
All in all beautiful and food for thought. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the variations, they are all beautiful and show me just how versatile your design is. For instance, it would be very easy to change the look of the website by altering the color combos in the logo and choosing backgrounds accordingly.(I'm hoping to join a design cooperative that does quarterly shows, so it would be useful for coordinating collections too.) I like the stacked versions but my son swears by #98. I like all of the wild zebra stripes, and even the pastel version #90 is simply stunning. I think the small issues of which typeface for the tagline, etc can wait until nearer the end of the competition.
Thanks for putting so much work into this, I really appreciate it.
As you said, my design could be customizable : either change motif or change colours with the zebra or flowers design, according to your collections. As well, the dragonfly in the circle could be used on it's own to identify your company, I imagine it very well as a signature engraved on a silver circle for the jewellery!
Concerning the motifs, If you have pictures of typical Kenyan designs that you like I could try making some other variations with more African-looking motifs.
My dear, there should be a separate prize for the designer who can come up with the most variations on their best design, all more or less equally beautiful.
I like the multi-zebras a lot and also the new take on the tagline.
Truly, deciding this contest will be one of the hardest things I've ever done--and that would be true if you were the only designer involved!
What a compliment! Thank you for taking time to make comments, it is a pleasure to work on such an inspiring contest! I wish you the best for your company.
Hi, just about to complete judging and I wanted to thank you again for your entries. Even though I haven't been in touch recently, just wanted to know that the merits of your design(s) were appreciated and debated. In the end, I felt the winning entry, soon to be declared, was more in tune with the "handmade" nature of our products, which was something important I wanted to put across.
I do have an idea for another use for your design. If you are agreeable, I may contact you in the next few weeks about a follow up.
