Please don't withdraw your logos! Those top ones are going to the Logo Committee tomorrow, Tuesday, April 12th. We like that design and are just not sure which laurel leaves to choose from or the outlines in black.
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR WORK!!!
There seems to be confusion with the extension. We requested an extention on Saturday afternoon when we had less than 24 hours and only 9 logos. The office is closed on the weekends and they now gave us that extension.
We, the logo committee, are choosing a logo tomorrow and yours in the top 2!!!
#171 Can you change the green to the color in #182?
As a designer, is there preferential treatment on how to select if we like the short, plump laurel leaves better than the tall, thin laurel leaves? Or vice versa?
It seems like the details in the circle pop more with the short, plump laurel leaves. It also seems like the short, plump laurel leaves weigh the bottom of the design nicely.
How do we advise the Logo Committee on this?
Is it a personal decision...what she likes better go with?
No trouble at all, I'll do that in just a few minutes.
Regarding the Laurel leaves, it really does come down to personal preference in this case I think. It doesn't in all cases, as sometimes balance is much stronger in one than another, but in this case I think they both look good. The tall, thinner ones give a little "cleaner" look, maybe a little more elegant. However, I also like the short ones exactly for the reasons you mentioned. They weigh the bottom nicely, look a little stronger and draw a little more attention to the star and mountain/desert. I'm sorry if I haven't helped much, but I really do think either one is good, and I'm not letting myself be biased. One way to get another look at them is to see them with text next to them, so I'll do a couple of mock-ups with the text to the right of them so you can see if that changes the look for you.
While I'm thinking about it, I just wanted to mention some things that will help you after the contest ends. I saw your comments and questions about printing the logo, and perhaps some others have already answered. Regardless of who wins, and I was happy to see that you went from 9 to so many good logos from many good designers, you should ask for some particular files. I'm sure no one would have any trouble emailing them to you. The winner can only upload EPS (a standard file type used by printers) and a large JPeg image via Logo Tournament after the contest. You should ask for a PDF file as well. It's scalable, in that you can view it at any size without the quality degrading like you see if you blow up a regular JPeg image and it gets "pixelated." A PDF of the logo is just a very handy thing to have. You should also ask for a few sizes of JPeg. Small, like a business card, medium like letterhead and maybe another half the size of the big one that's uploaded here as a final file. Lastly, a Photoshop file (or whatever you use when you print things from your home computer). That way, you already have the logo in that file type and can just add any text you want when you use it for different things. Again, I don't believe anyone would have any trouble giving you those.
#190 was selected by the Board of Directors. They want to see the star solid--which I saw when I logged on! Thanks. I will get this to them tonight and get back with you.
They also wanted to see the solid star with a more distinguishable (just slightly) black line just inside the outer green border. That would be #212.
You have done some amazing work. Everyone was very pleased. We look forward to seeing the last revision.
Thank you very much for the update. I'm happy to hear that people were pleased. I did two with the black border slightly thicker, the second more so than the first. If I misunderstood, please let me know.
We can officially say it now...YOU ARE OUR WINNER!!!
Thank you for all of your submissions. We realize it must have been a lot of work. Because of your continuous changes, we found a fabulous logo and WE APPRECIATE IT!!!
Everyone loves the logo! We can't wait to start using it!!! We have a conference to attend on April 30 and it will be the logo's debut!!!
We are very excited about the logo. Once again, thank you!
