Color Preferences
I like white because of weddings and correlation with the name. I like silver/grey to help make the connection with the silver screen/cinematic feeling. I also might like a very subtle accent color to help with a complete branding experience.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Please take a look at this short trailer to get an idea for the feel of what we do. www.whitestoneproductions.com/sonnier or you can check out our current website at www.whitestoneproductions.com. We're not necessarily looking to have a stone of any kind in our logo, the color white is a sufficient connection to our name. It might be possible, although not necessary, to have a very subtle film element in the design, but only if it's understated and the focus is more on the exclusive element of our product.

I am not looking to have the slogan as part of the logo. I think the name is clear enough.

I'm not a big fan of the light pastels. I'd prefer more silver/grey/white/black, with color used more as an accent. I might like to see silver/grey as a background color. I also like light and shadows or gradients. I saw some good stuff on the Lowell Vineyards logo contest.

Alright, we're off and running now! A few thoughts as we move forward. I think I'd like the background to be either silver/grey or white. I also really want a sophisticated high-end feel. Think 5-star luxury resort hotel. This means no wedding cliche icons and very subtle, if at all, use of any film element. I'd prefer an abstract design or the use of a W as the icon rather than anything wedding related. Let me emphasize again... High-End Sophistication. Thank you all for your efforts.

I think I would really like to steer clear of the film icons as well. It's so hard to get right. If it can be done subtly that's great, but I haven't seen that yet. I'd like simple, classic, timeless, luxurious, sophisticated, elegance. Perhaps a simple flourish or nice flowing lines, but I can't emphasize subtle enough. Thank you all for participating. I'll continue to comment on everyone.

We're getting some good stuff. Thank you all for participating. I'm learning a bit more about what I like and what I'm looking for. I'm really liking the white and silver coloring with black accent. I like the idea of a stylized W. I like simple elegance. Another option might be a small flourish, as in the example of design #38 on the De Klenge Casino contest done by saturninus. I think even less of it than was in that design, but perhaps we could try something small and subtle to enhance. Thanks again everyone. Nice work!

Yay! I like this new batch. I'm glad to see you guys are reading my comments. I'd love to see some interesting variations on the W, just remember to keep it elegant and sophisticated. Again, think luxury hotel. Thanks all.

Just to let you all know, I'm trying to make the rankings fair between the designers by giving some equal representation at the top. Please let me know if this is how I should do it. I'm still learning this process. There are a lot of very talented designers here and I understand we are dealing with subjective creativity, so it's hard to fault anyone for their interpretation of my design ideas. Thank you all for really great work!

Can I get some guidance here on the ranking? Should I just be ranking everything, even variations on the same theme, or should I only rank the best of each iteration, or what? What's the protocol here? Thanks.

well this early in the contest it doesnt really matter about the variations being ranked butas the contest ends you will want to have the Top 10 ranked to all different designers and the rest of the entries can be ranked with ribbons. give out all the ribbons you want:)

Thanks for responding Sean.

As far as direction from here, I'd love to start seeing more creativity with flourishes, etc. I still want them to be subtle and not overplayed - maybe reduced opacity. I'm also liking some of the entries with subtle color added in - particularly lavender. Again, subtle and only used as an accent rather than for the W or the word Whitestone. Those should either be white or silver. Thanks.

I am shooting a wedding today, so I won't be able to give feedback until tomorrow. Loving all the new stuff. Thanks everyone!

So as we head in to the last day of this competition I want to point out what I'm liking about certain designs. Right now #178 is at the top because of the exquisite attention to detail with the lighting and shadows. I like the strength and simplicity of the W. I like the way the same lighting technique is consistent throughout the design. I think this logo portrays quiet confidence. I like the ultra-subtle use of flourishes to soften the design and add a touch of femininity. I like the slight shading in the background on #178 & #156, with #178 being just a tad smoother. I like the proportions of Whitestone to wedding films in #178, with #164 and #156 a close 2nd and 3rd. I really like the flourishes of #156 & #164, although I think there's still room to improve on the particular designs - perhaps a little bit more wispy and random than symmetrical.

#197 makes fabulous use of the light and shadows that I like that add dimension to the design. I really love the use of the ribbon rather than a flourish. I think a thinner, wispier ribbon would detract less from the W however. The reflection is a nice touch, although a bit harsh in this version. I'm also not looking to add the slogan to the logo design.

It's possible the winning design may not have been created yet. I just wanted to give some insight to you all as to why I chose the top four that I have. To have the strength and confidence of #178, with some of the lighting and shading of #178 & #197 and a super subtle, whisper of a flourish or ribbon effect may yet still come in and steal the prize. Thank you all for your fantastic and very creative creations thus far!

As we near completion of this contest I want to let you all know that I will complete my rankings after the contest is done and anyone who made an honest attempt at this competition will receive some sort of ranking. Thank you all again for participating.

Well folks, I have extended this contest by two days, however, I'm really only looking for a few more tweaks from some current designs and then I may be ending the contest early when I think we're there. Thank you all. I'm going to do a bit of adjusting in the rankings as I settle the score. There are still several good options for the top rankings. It's very difficult to choose between such good designs. Thanks all for hanging in there.

Okay, this has been a tough decision with lots of great creative designs to choose from (and some not so great). I feel as though I have chosen the best logo design for my company. Congratulations to moshimoshi and to wolv for a hard-fought battle to the end. I think a lot of good designers put in some great efforts on this contest, particularly those that I have selected for the top 10. You all deserve good rankings for your efforts. As promised, I have ranked all honest efforts at this contest with a ranking of some sort. I assure you, that after the first dozen or so, there is no rhyme or reason to the rankings. I just had to drag 300+ logos into the ranking column. I hope that means blue ribbons for everybody (as long as you read my contest brief, which some of you obviously didn't). Thanks again everyone for participating, and congratulations to moshimoshi!
