Brendan, these are the best yet!
Like #16 w/the slightly larger buffalo better. But like the imagery you've got going, w/the mic head background, the notes, etc.
I was thinking more along the lines of an emblem, which is what you've got going on here.
Question: I'd like to see horns on the buffalo, but realize that w/his head lower than his shoulder, in this rendering you wouldn't see them. Can you add a bit of relief, perhaps a bit of 3-D effect? Then we can see the horns.
I also realize you have to be judicious w/that as you don't want to make the buffalo image to busy & complex.
But you're definitely heading in the right direction for what you've created here!
Thanks & keep up the great work! Looking forward to your upcoming interations!

Hi Chan
Just a question that buffalo you referred us to at http://www.flickr.com/photos/whitebuffalomusic/ do you own that image or the rights to it if so and with your permission I could simplify that buffalo for the Logo.

Brendan, I sure like what you've done here!
No, sadly, I don't know the origin of the image, and I wish I could figure it out to get the rights or permission to use it for printing T-shirts, etc.
If you have any insight as to how to research the owner, please share it!
Thanks!

Thats A pity I see it has already been used on the cover of a book www.manataka.org/ page1799.html
so we would probably face legal repercussions if we used it I see one of the other designers has used it although he has changed it he could get into a copy-write wrangle. I myself was tempted to use it in fact I got halfway through an illustration using it but then I though I had better check, and I found it on the internet so pulled back. But Bee that as it may please let me know if you have any changes or recommendations regarding the logos I have done.

Brendan, thanks for your reply!
I'm certainly not looking to incur the legal wrath of an artist, especially when I'd rather pay them for their rights to use their image (altho I didn't think it'd work as a logo).
As well, while I like what Fufe has done, I'm still worried that, just like the original, when reduced in size, like on a business card, you might not be able to "read" the image for it's complexity.
That said, I best like #21. Again, I was worried that if you added shading/texture to the buffalo you might muddy it up when rendered smaller, but I think you've avoided that trap nicely.
I am going to let the contest run it's course before I make a decision, and am also working w/a couple local Twin Cities diesigners, but am quite happy w/what you've created!
Thanks for your skills & patience!

Brendan, do you think that these logos will become illegible when reduced in size for business cards? While I love what you've done, and I think they'd work in all other instances, I am concerned when we shrink them down for those occasions like biz. cards, web buttons, etc.
Thanks!

ok I have increased the size of certain elements that might disappear if it was reduced.
