Our Ideas & Additional Information
Description
We need a logo for a school district in Weston, MO. The district is moving towards a more progressive branding; however, it is located in a historical town that prides itself on the historical preservation of the community Check ou the town website
www.westonmo.com

There are no fast food restaurants and everything is home-grown/owned in the community. However, our goal in the district is to move forward with a new logo that embodies the school tag line “preserving the past, building the future”.

The school/district colors are royal blue, white, and black as an accent color. The district is a small district housing around 600 students K-12. We have an elementary building and a middle/high school building all attached. The websites will be consistent; however, we want a logo for the district, elementary, and the middle/high school to work together.

The district logo needs to be focused around the district name “West Platte School District” and should have a more professional feel that will/can transition into communication flow, etc. The school logos need to be similar but with a more youthful approach for the elementary. Also, we would like a monochromatic logo option as well for the blue jay.

West Platte High – Fighting Blue Jays
West Platte Elementary - Blue Jays (we want to name the blue jay and create a mascot that visits the school, etc.)

After looking through the entries, we have decided that it may be more interesting to remove the blue jay altogether. We are curious to see what you guys could do without the blue jay. Also, can we work on incorporating a shield into the design. Check out www.brentwoodacademy.com. Also, keep it classic and incorporate the establised date of 1869 for the historical touch. We really like the crest or shield concept. I would like to see someone incorporate the agricultural aspect of the community. The community has a strong farming history...tobacco, wheat, corn, etc. if we could use the "turn rows" or crop fields in the logo, I think that would push it over the top!

I'm still not sure these are the final proofs. I feel like something is still missing. Feel free to take a creative approach to the current logos. I'm not sure if the WP is the right direction, but I do like it. It wouldn't hurt to try the academic aspects again...torch, winged foot of hermes, the arts, and maybe community service.

It would be great to get the final files ASAP. We have a board meeting on Wednesday, June 20th and would like to have something to share. Also, is it possible to have the files sent in png format?
