Wanted to be first, usually not the best to go first though, but here goes...
This is my global, panoramic, 360, abstract kiwi icon, with the kiwi forming a globe and also giving the icon a panoramic view, I did have small trees and mts along the kiwi's back to emphasise the panoramic view but it made it too busy, (keep it simple) Hope you like it.
Could I see a fern in the same style as the kiwi, with some variations on font and something on the NZ to make that clear? On the globe some kind of grid fading in might look cool?
Perhaps the black sphere, green 'viewi' and black 'nz' might look cool?
Apart from that I like the fact you went first and I think your on to something...
try this one, the fern is stylised to look like a panoramic view of a row of trees along a river, with the fronds/trees on the bottom side being the reflection of the trees. New font too.
Really really cool Julian. Really like it. Really nice simple style but proffessional and elegant at the same time. Plus I can use the sphere as a button in the interface.
Can we try with a similar weight on all type, i.e. as bold as NZ. This will proabably like silly and just to try could we make the second 'i' a darker green just to see what it looks like? I doubt it will work but would like to see it.
I'm actually one of those pesky poms, I've just moved here to Wellington with my kiwi girlfriend and britwi baby.
and a new abstract fern icon, just for something different.
Charcoal should be joining the contest soon, he always enters something nice. He's an ex kiwi too, I was born across the Cook Straight in Nelson and married an aussie girl and I have a Scottish father too, and I live in Queensland, (I'm a real mongrel, aren't I ;))
I agree with #15. One other think I'd ilke to try is the bottom fronds (the trees in the river) could they be the same grey as the 'i' ? When the logo is viewed small it is hard to see them and I think they could stand out a bit more in a silvery grey, perhaps retaining the while outline?
I also like the grey outline on the sphere in #16, could we add that?
