Thanks for joining the competition! Hmmm. I'm pondering this. Interesting. At first look, I didn't really like it, but it did make me wonder if maybe a design using two V's in the shape of a diamond rather than a square would work. Or some combination of one V being right side up and the other one being upside down? Something to think about. . .
Thanks again. I really like your work and hope you come up with something that'll win!
#159 -- that's the general direction, but one "V" should be upright, the other upside down. Also, I don't really care so much for the design itself -- it's the upright "V" with an upside down "V" that I'd like you to think about.
#164 -- Yes! Now you've got the idea! I like it. Let me ponder it some and see if I have any suggestions for changes. I'll rank this high, but not quite sure just where, yet. Thanks! If you have any other ideas along this line then give 'em a try!
Also, a font with a wider "V", like the one used in entry #156. Or, something with a little more "character". I like fonts that are just a bit different than plain sans serif.
#166 -- I like that, too! How about this version on a white background, use black instead of orange for the square, and the colors of the Vs as in #164?
#168 -- Hmmm. It's kinda hard to make a good call on this when the whole image is so small. I do think we should use a font that has a wider V, like the one in #167 to match the V shapes in the icon. Those little "tags" you added to the V should also have sharp points like the icon (I can't tell if they do with it so small).
Which font of the 2 you used do you recommend? Are you saying using a font with a wider V isn't the best look, or having them with points like the icon?
#175 -- I like the icon much better. It looks like the tips in the center pass each other at the center point on this one, rather than stopping short of the center. I'm not sure which way I like it better. What do you think?
As for the font, it's better, but I'd still like to see how it looks with the fonts that I suggested. I think the orange text needs to be darker, too. Not sure which word I like better in the orange.
Can I see how it looks with a turquoise color instead of orange? I'd also like to see how it looks on a black square like those in #166 and #167.
FYI you will receive all the variations you need after the contest, not just the variation you choose, if you end up choosing my design I'll email you any variation or format you need.
FONT: I like the Good Time font much better. Can it be thicker, though (probably the "Heavy" version of Good Time)? Can you also give the bottom end of the loop in the R an angled cut to mimic the angles in the icon? I like that you used the same font for the tagline.
COLOR: Gosh, I like the turquoise, too. I'll rank one color but will probably want both if I choose this design. I like the darker orange for "VICTORY" as in #207 but the lighter orange in the icon as in #175. Can you make a version that combines those?
LAYOUT: I like the icon on top AND on the side. I also like it on and off the colored square. Will it be possible for me to get the icon objects in a layered .psd file so I can put it on different backgrounds?
If you have any other ideas for tweaks or variations I'm open to seeing them! Thanks!
One other thing -- I noticed that when you put the icon on top of a rounded square, you make the square the size of the original icon and then shrink the icon to fit. Can you try keeping the icon the same size and putting it on a larger black square? Shrinking it loses the sharpness and the space between the 2 "V" shapes.
The icon top or side doesn't matter, the arrangement depends on usage and medium. Even the colours could be changed to suit usage and background. Here's another text layout idea.
#215 -- I want both "VICTORY" and "VISION" to have the same weight, so this won't work.
#214 -- Looks really good. Can I see that angle on the "R" cut the other way (don't shoot me!)? I know I'm being picky!
As for the position of the icon -- I realize that the arrangement doesn't matter, I just wanted to see how it would work both ways. I'm going to want the icon without the text as well as with it so I can arrange it as needed when needed.
#263 -- Fonts are perfect now! What do you think about adding a thin line between the business name and tagline? How about one on either side of the tagline? Can I see how that would look? Also, I think the tagline needs to be dropped down just a tad. It looks too squished up against the business name to me.
