Our Ideas & Additional Information
Vesselhead is a derogatory term for a kayaker by a surfer. While both share a love for the water, when the kayaker goes to ocean it is usually because the rivers are not running. The surfers are in a way threatened by the kayakers because they catch more waves and don't need to follow the channels because the paddle makes them much more maneuverable.

I chose the name because I liked it, and I feel that there are a lot of metaphors between kayaking and business. I like the idea of using the constructs of this extreme sport to demonstrate what is required to be successful and I plan to use the metaphor thoroughly in business engagements.

Metaphors for Vesselhead and strategic planning:
* A vessel of information is only valuable when distilled and clearly communicated.
* One must do their research to choose the course or hit hazards along the way.
* In the modern era, you need to be assertive and timely in your research and decision making because the market moves quickly.
* To stay the course, one must see the line and focus on it. Too much time staring at trouble means you will likely head right into it.
* Sometimes, you don't know what the course will be, you come around a corner and everything in the game has changed. You need to be able to react and act quickly without fear.

Hi dear CH! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked in the top 10. We like to earn points.

~~ NOTE: While in JUDGING mode, the designer ranked in 1st can still submit revisions.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

From my business partner, prior to you posting the newer logos.

I like #2 logo and symbol with new VH encased in a diamond. Good first design. Would recommend a thinner diamond with some spacing around VH. The diamond makes the VH hard to see. I didn't realize it was a V and an H at first look. A critical element for a customer to distinguish in a letterhead or web.

To show some separation between VH and diamond, recommend a different hue of orange. Try a version with hue on VH and then a different hue with the diamond.

The font in #2 doesn't convey impact when it's in lowercase. The #5 font for vesselhead seems current with the times. I would be curious to see a 20% thinner font of #5, as an option to the bold version.

Ok so I just updated the brief based on some conversations I had last night with some creative folks. I liked the direction they were heading. Take a look at it for a completely different set of ideas on the logo.

Feedback on the new logos you uploaded today:
I like them asthetically, but it is likely heading the wrong direction for the corporate audience. They are too soft and friendly. We are a business that identifies disruption. I think my entire metaphor on the kayaking etc. is distracting from the core business idea here. Our company is edgy. The name is implicitly edgy. So our formal presentation needs to be sleek and professional. Think Suits.

Ok.... Sat with my business partner. We are two very very different people :). Ranked based on the following.

#1 the icon rocks, font is good but not bold enough in some ways. Also, we like the idea of the Vessel over Head like #6. We want it to be seen as two words. Can you tweak? Also, any other color combinations to show?

#2 great job on making the H more prominent. Can we see more color combinations e.g. the blue orange? The font for vesselhead isn't working. It is too soft. Also we need the V to be capitalized. We really like the font of #3. Execs have like the font of #4; however, I still feel it is a bit recreational. Makes me think about a skate shop.

#3 We love your font the most. Again, we would love to see the Vessel on top of the Head. Would love to see new ideas for the icon.

We like the V in 91 because it is good for scaling down and up. It would be good to see submissions that work scaled down.
