Need some more posts where are all the designers at!? Didn't think I'd be able to find a logo too tough for logo tournament ;)

You definitely shouldn't be concerned yet, you'll get plenty near the end of the of the contest, usually how it goes, plus I have a few other ideas to submit :)

Or rather, "its number" (Why can't they edit their site properly). Anyway, yes. I expect most to come in towards the end.

As far as these 4 are concerned, I prefer the earlier ones - but 3 of us will have to decide!

There should be no more than the words Up On The Prairies. We put the slogan in just because we had to come up with something for the profile, but don't use it. We're not a morning show! #12 is really good, even though we haven't ranked it, but it's too soft and has no umbrella -- could the rising sun be made into an umbrella somehow?

Yes to reinforce the last commend we want more of a non-word logo that we can brand with, although it's possible that logo would have UP or Up On The Praries in / around it so it could be included in the design.

By the way, by "prairies" every Canadian knows we mean the plains. Non-Canadians might not realize that we represent a region defined essentially by its geography of flat plains. Sometimes called the "bread basket of the world" we are a huge flat region with only wheat, trees and sky as far as the eye can see. The joke about our region goes like this: "On the prairies, if your dog runs away, you can still see it 3 days later."

The word 'prairies' identifies our region in central Canada. While we are known for our wheat fields in the southern part of our prairie provinces this may be a little misleading - we also have forests and lakes in the central and northern part. In particular, we will be working with urban cities. The umbrella ties us all together. We chose the colours of nature, blue, green and gold.

Please AVOID using an exclamation mark unless you use it for the umbrella handle. The umbrella should not look like a beach umbrella.
