Here is one of my proposals. Instead of creating a separate icon / typography combination, I've created an all encompassing logo / unit. One that can be used for additional elements just as branding stamps, watermarks, shirt badges/embroidery etc.
The logo is 100% vector so will scale well to any size, and works well in full colour, B&W and on coloured backgrounds if needed,
It would be my pleasure to work up any variations so please do say. I look forward to your comments or thoughts.
Thank you so much for your designs! They look amazing!! Really liking entry #38 and #39. Very much in line with what we are looking for. I like the idea of an all-encompassing logo.
Yes, some variations sound like a good idea so we can compare.
With regards to Entry #39. We really like this design. Maybe just some simple variations such as try a different font (maybe similar to the font in this one http://www.pinterest.com/pin/144537469264594184/ - ie: a bit more of a designer look rather than modern). Also some colour variations. It might be a good idea just to try black as well as more of a pastel turquoise blue similar to the colour in your design entry #32 or the colour in entry #3.
With regards to Entry #38. The same changes as above but also see what it looks like without the lines. Maybe just do a small dash on either side of “est 2013”. Like this: -EST 2013-
We really appreciate your help. Thank you so much!!
Thanks for the great feedback and comments, always appreciated!
Just one thing ... when you say "different font" as per that pinterest link, are you referring to the monogram letters i.e. the icon in the middle or the font for Victoria Amory?
And here are some variations of #38 and #39. For each one I've made the "SM" narrower and also experimented with different colours.
With regards to my earlier query about the "different font" ... If I'm right and you do mean the font for the VA icon and not the wording, then I will see what I can do, however the letters / shape of "SM" don't really lend themselves to being interlocked as well as simpler more modern fonts. But let me see what I can do :)
Could I try some more variations so I can compare.
- Could you remove the shadow on the SM symbol. I think I might prefer a more cleaner, sharper look for the symbol. - With entry # 78 could you try making the SM colour the same colour as the exterior border (ie: dark blue) - Could you also try just for comparison sake a slightly more elegant font. I’m not sure if this will look better but I just want to try it. - Also, could you maybe scale down the SM symbol slightly. See in this logo for example how the VA symbol doesn’t take up as much of a percentage of the black backround. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks you so much!
Also, do you design business cards. So If we decided to go with your design, could you do the business cards also?
Of course would be my pleasure to do some variations :)
And here they are. #106, #107, #108, #109, #110, #111, #112 and #113. I've removed the shadows that make the SM symbol look like its interlocking. I've also done a version where its smaller within the circle. And then also applied that to #78 as well.
I shall experiment with a slightly more elegant font now for you. With regards to the business cards ... Unfortunately we aren't allowed to talk about other work whilst the project is still running, however once its completed then we can definitely discuss it. But to answer your query, yes I can definitely help with stationary ;)
Thank you so much for your designs - we love them!
Just a question regarding colours - can we change out colours after the competition with you personally if we want. I just say that because we want the colour to match perfectly with our website which we havn't completed yet? Let us know.
Also could you make a few variations to the top 3:
- Could you make the SM a little smaller and without the shadow. Could you also make the SM a bit bolder (only slightly though) - Could you also make the words "est 2013" and "The Silk Merchant" a little bit larger font.
With regards to the colour ... Yes of course we can do that not a problem at all :)
And to the changes - here are a few variations;
1st Ranked Entry Versions #165 - smaller SM, larger other words #166 - as per above, just slightly bolder SM #167 - as per above, slightly bolder still SM
2nd Ranked Entry Versions #168 - as per #165 #169 - as per #166 #170 - as per #167
3rd Ranked Entry Versions #171 - as per #165 #172 - as per #166 #173 - as per #167
