#6 and #7 - I like the square shape (we put out a nearly square calendar, and this would fit perfectly on it), and the grid is sort of reflective of buildings, which sends a nice subliminal message, but the letters come off a bit like an eye chart split up like that....color is definitely my pick when the medium allows :)
Other comments sent in by e-mail from people around town:
we like #4 best but we would change the leaves to palm fronds. (NOTE: here in Oviedo, we have sabal palms - they have different fronds from other types - it's not much of a Hollywood tree :)
We like the look of #1 but a Roman column doesn't seem to fit Oviedo's architecture.
#3 is nice but maybe a little too modern for "preserving historic architecture."
I'm putting this idea up in a couple of different formats. One is the graphic by itself, so that you can see how it looks in a large size. The other is with the name beside the graphic, so you can see how they look together.

Wanted to try something else with the name, as putting it under the letters wasn't working so well. I'm curious to know what you think of having it like this, arcing over the letters?
Just realized this "private" comment section was here....glad to hear your thought process! The arc's still very popular with the townies - not sure how things will shake out, but the modern look is getting some play on this end :)
Thanks for your comment. I'll not deny the hope of one of my works being chosen, but the main thing is you getting a logo you're pleased with and that meets your needs.
