What We Do
The Outdoor Hour is a hunting and fishing radio show based in Oklahoma City. We air weekly and have leading personalities in the industry from professional content creators, to government officials, to fish and game agents, and amateurs on to talk about the outdoors and tell stories. Fly fishing and bow hunting are a couple of our primary topics. Deer hunting, bear hunting, turkey hunting. Tarpon fishing, trout fishing. Backpacking, camping, hiking. We all have kids and talk about trying to get outdoors and preserve a way of life that is slowly dying.
Here’s an intro I wrote that plays before every episode:
As long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the outdoors. There’s something primal in each of us that awakens when we step outside the bounds of modern society, and back into the vast possibilities of a natural world. The more civilized our lives become, the louder our hearts cry for reconnection with our native ways. Failure is imminent. Danger drawing nigh. But approached with reverence and tact, the outdoors return wisdom and gain. In the outdoors and in life, harvests are fleeting but lessons and memories abound. With that in mind we step forth boldly together in pursuit of ourselves, outdoors. We are nothing more than treestand troubadours.
That “tree stand troubadours” line has gotten lots of positive attention…
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I like the MeatEater logo and the First Lite logos, something that’s obviously outdoors related without being too “in your face” about being hunting/fishing/radio.
