What We Do
We are a small law firm with a niche practice that concentrates on small business, litigation and property related matters.
Industry
Color Preferences
Blues, greens, maybe a splash of a stronger colour or red.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Our existing logo was designed for a former owner. The company was supposed to be online based but it never went that way. See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28175513@N03/4846400136/

I do not like too much "legal" symbolism such as gavels, scales. Most of this looks cheap and like it was done using microsoft word clip art. A very well done athena (statue of justice with sword) if it gives the impression of movement and flight may be OK, but do not take this as a hint that I would want more than one or two of these as an option.

I am going to need letterhead, envelope, business card incorporating the logo so please provide an estimate for the cost of these additional services with your entry.

The business is in transition. Our new target base is young and affluent, but a lot of the existing clients are older and more conservative, so something too "web 2.0" will probably not suit.

Something that would look OK in black and white as well (indeed, a very striking B&W image could be viewed favourably) is also helpful as some of the documents we print a logo on will only be able to be printed b&w.

Thanks for the good start.
# 1 stands out as the one conveying the most "class" at the moment.
Please keep the creative juices flowing though, I am looking for range of ideas and something I did not know I liked until I see it !
Could we experiment a little with the colour (I know I did not emphasize this on the design brief). Could we see some where the colour slash underneath is a tick rising behind the words ? (this may work best on no 2 as I do need to print it occasionally in B&W). How about shaping the whole name ? Light effects that will stand out on websites and higher quality print applications ?

[ note, sorry if you see this twice ]

Design No 14 has definate merit. Something similar had been in the back of my mind for a while, however with the centre part of the "A" (call it the "swoosh") much bigger, bolder and looking like a tick, perhaps in Red. the spacing on the element "Place" also seems a little wide. We are solicitors, so perhaps any spacing issues could be resolved by putting a line under the design with the word "solicitors" in it (either the word with a line on either side or just the word.) Perhaps even the word "solicitors" inside the swoosh ?

Our office is painted sea green which looks blue under artificial light and a deep green in sunlight.

Entry No 8 is also of interest. The emphasis line would probably have to do something as at the moment I think it is only interfering slightly with readability. Perhaps be part of an "L" from an antique script balancing the modern ? This would be a nice touch showing the tradition and conservatism expected of our profession but also our intention to be modern, progressive and efficient.

Thanks to all for your hard work to date, Elements which take us away from being solely a "word mark" would be great. Lettering which can be printed "flat" on letterhead and documents and with backlighting, lighting emphasis on high quality & engraved printing and websites would also be good.

Thanks again Guys.

Mictoon, the "swoosh" is on the right track, (esp, 24 & 25) however I think it has to be bigger if we are going to emphasise it - perhaps some smaller and neater eg 24/25 and one or two with a rough, "brush style" red swoosh - it definately has to be a tick, though going from Left to Right.

26 is the closest to this - maybe with a deeper blue green and the tick running behind the L and up over the P, so it becomes a dominant feature. Would need some sort of lightening behind it so that the letters would be distinguishable if printed in grey scale.

Barubelajar - thanks for entering the fray. Your design # 15 is elegant - the "L" would have to be a different script I think - elizabethan or handwritten in some way. This gives us the old/new balance. I think we would also need the line under or part underneath with the word solicitors to tie the top script together.

Bikin - I keep coming back to #12 as well. It does not jump out at me as it stands, but I still keep coming back to it. Can we look at a version where the "L" escapes the boundaries of the oval ? The colours are good.

Angelina - these are not what I had in mind, but I have the feeling that they may be the kind of thing that would be best left to sink in for a day or so - they are certainly light and modern and I have the feeling that they may grow on me. Some staff have been very enthusiastic about these and I will run them past some clients as well.

The Green shade we could use is a very deep sea green / blue

Lastly - am I being too prescriptive ?? I do not want to dry up the creativity by putting my stamp on things too early as the main reason I went to the competition format is to get a wide range of ideas rather than someone simply drawing up what I already like. Having said that, I understand that you need some direction. Is the balance right ??

Getting exciting !.

For those with an "L" that is the focal point (eg, 15 & 34) the script would have to be quite different, perhaps a handwriting style - quite florid and elaborate. (not copperplate, something older such as Granville, Florentine Script or Ballentine).

Sastranjinga, a good start. Perhaps if you could do some similar ones incorporating the word "solicitors", underlining, or with the circle filled. The first draft is great, however.

H2 - any elaboration on your first ideas ?

Thanks all.
