What We Do
The Dot is a co-being "third space" that focuses on the pursuit of a full and inspired life through community.

Target Audience: Women, ages 28-70, must be able to afford annual club membership of $3K.

WHO WE ARE:
The Dot is a membership-based club where women can feel inspired, supported and connected. It’s a “third” space where intentionality thrives. A place where shifts are made and “becoming” is the focus.

We are a community of women who want something better: more connection, more purpose, and more opportunities to learn and grow.

The Dot is a vibe. It’s moody in all the best ways. It’s eclectic and clever; curated. It acknowledges the intrinsic bond women have and the idea that when our unique selves come together, we inherently become something greater.

VISION:
Stronger communities that embrace authentic connection, interdependence, and intentional growth to foster a stronger human collective.

MISSION:
To cultivate a vibrant “third space” where women inspire, empower, and support each other—co-creating a better way to live, connect, and evolve.

PILLARS:
Service & Support – foster a supportive community of reciprocity, where women are encouraged to give and receive equally.

Creativity & Inspiration – provide an arts-inspired, physical environment, coupled with inspirational and educational content, tailored for women.

Growth – enable women to build valuable relationships, skills, and knowledge that nurture growth and success.

The Dot is inspired from three key ideas
A children’s book called “The Dot”
Pointillism
“Dottie,” the founder’s grandmother

“The Dot” children’s book, written by Peter H. Reynolds, is an inspiring story about a young girl discovering her creativity and confidence, with the encouragement of her teacher, showing how small actions, and a little support, can lead to big breakthroughs.

The story revolves around Vashti, who believes she isn't good at art. When her teacher asks her to draw something, Vashti insists that she cannot draw. In response, the teacher encourages her, saying, “Just make a mark and see where it takes you.”

Still reluctant, Vashti jabs her marker onto the paper, leaving a small dot in the center. Instead of criticizing, the teacher suggests Vashti sign her name under it. This moment sparks a shift in Vashti’s mindset.

The next day, Vashti sees her dot framed and displayed in the classroom. She thinks to herself, “I can make a better dot than that!” She begins experimenting—making bigger, smaller, and colorful dots. Over time, Vashti realizes that she is an artist in her own way.

Eventually, Vashti meets another child who feels discouraged about their art skills. Inspired by her teacher’s encouragement, Vashti pays it forward, telling the child to “make a mark and see where it takes you.”

Pointillism is an art technique where small, distinct dots of color unite to form intricate and vibrant compositions. This method relies on the viewer's eye to blend the individual dots into a cohesive composition, creating vibrant and dynamic effects.

Developed in the late 19th century by artists like Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, pointillism demonstrates the power of distinct elements coming together to form something greater.

Dorothy “Dottie” Nelson represents the idea that all women are both alike and different. We share matriarchal roots that connect us, yet each of us carries unique histories, perspectives, and experiences that share our worldview.. By respecting these differences and learning from one another—especially across generations—we can build a stronger, more compassionate, and connected human collective.

A description of The Dot space: lots of natural light and high ceilings. The style is a blend of bohemian, eclectic, and vintage elements with a modern, chic twist. It is characterized by its free-spirited, optimistic, colorful, and artistic vibe, drawing inspiration from nature, world travel, and various cultural influences. It blends minimalism with maximalism. Overall, it’s about expressing individuality, embracing creativity, and combining comfort with artistic flair.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
See attached for
1- The Dot space mood board.
2- The cover of "The Dot" book by Peter H. Reynolds. I do NOT want the logo to look like the book cover. It's mentioned as an inspiration for the concept, but I need to stay away from it looking like Mr. Reynold's work. Thank you!

Discussion

I'd love to see some more Pointillism integrated. The ones that hint at Pointillism are among my favorites.

The orange dots, as mentioned in the brief, will not work. Too similar to the book art.

Thanks!!!

Another thing I'm drawn to.... the idea of bubbles (like in a champagne glass). This corresponds to the idea of "elevating" your life.

Thank you!

There's a Pointillism image attached. Can anyone incorporate Pointillism more?
