I love that you used Violet as the inspiration of course :) It's really nice - I love the font. The dog could be taken to look happy - but I also thought the dog looks scared! With the wide eyes and the fact that he/she appears to be peeking as if he/she is hiding. But I do like the fact that it is professional, simple and of course, I love the big floppy ears.
a subtle difference - how a dog tilts its head waiting for you to throw the toy or something and softened the eyes a bit.... thanks for feedback... my bil had a dog that looked just like Violet... fun.
Violet actually does the head tilt quite often, also, especially when she watches us eat. haha. I think I would like it even better if it had the full face - not sure how hard that would be for you to do. I like the head tilt a lot though. My boyfriend mentioned it looks a bit empty which I also agree with. Maybe a little more color? I think this design has great potential for what I am looking for.
I am told that a lot of color, gradients, detail and pastels make it hard to put the logo on different materials (especially print in black and white) so perhaps ignore my request for more color (maybe just a tad though). The full face would still interest me :)
thanks for feedback - my current trend in doing animals is to try to capture their look and personality with as few lines as possible - leaving a lot to imagination...Also because my day job is putting logos on promotional materials, I am sensitive to trying to use all solid spot colors and to have a 1 color version that looks good. Thanks
I love it! I need to decide whether I want lots of color and detail or a simple one like yours. I should probably do a lil research. I don't think I'd change a thing about your latest. Thanks!
to show in a 1 color version - this is best when photocopying and also to print on merchandise where they are restricted to one color - I can see it on Frisbees, dog bowls, leashes and more! the layout can be done stacked or horizontal to fit on different items. Glad you like my version of Violet.
And also....can I see it in a different color with the 2 color version? I love green. Perhaps blue as well? :) Oh...and my friends agree this is the best so far....but they did mention that they thought the eyes are a little scary/intense. Cuter, puppy dog eyes would be more appealing to me. These look excited and intense but I can also see why they are a little scary too.
You can choose the multi color version - a one color version can be provided after the contest by designer chosen. I am at work now but will show alternate colors later and look at dog eyes to capture a puppy look. I thought they looked inquisitive which is the look I get from dogs all the time... I want to know what they are thinking! HA!
The eyes *do* look inquisitive but I don't want any confusion about the dog being scary, haha. I was thinking about more squinty eyes - squinty eyes seem to imply a smile....but I am no professional so send on what you think looks happy/inquisitive (preferably without looking cheesy, if possible)! No pressure on getting it done immediately, I know you have a full-time job, as well. I also think I'd like to add Daycare.Boarding.Grooming underneath the name (not necessarily with the period separator I put there....but whatever looks good). I don't think my name, by itself, is totally clear about what we do. I keep making changes....the more I see, the more I know what I want! hehe. AND....one more thing....I am curious what it would look like a bit bolder (thicker, darker lines?) I hope I am not being TOO big a pain in the backside ;) Okay, thanks again!
here is the text color and the eyes in a bluish green color - and I softened the eyes to be more puppy curious like. happy to make any changes you want.... thanks
Love the color, love the eyes....I think I know why you put the daycare-boarding-grooming off to the side...to balance it, yes? But I feel like the head cock balances the "the" and would like to see the daycare-boarding-grooming centered and in the darker font (If it's necessary and looks okay...feel free to tilt the head just a tad more to balance it)....and THEN....I think I am done with the changes and I think that MAY be it! :) I absolutely love it.
happy to make changes. I know there are many very talented designers on LT, I am honored that you like my design and want you to have the best and most flexible logo possible!
I'm totally pleased...but SOME folks like the off-centered text in #39. Could I please see that one (off-center) with dark lettering? I just can't leave well-enough alone! (Can you tell I'm a mega perfectionist?) haha. Also...you're the pro...which do you like better and why?
Which do you like better and why if you don't mind me asking? I think they both look good so it will be hard for me to decide. But if there is a good design reasoning that supports one over the other, I'd be interested to know about that. Thanks Carol!
I actually prefer the one that is offset because I feel it is balanced and the type works together. You can select a main logo and also have options to use for different applications - you may want a version that is more horizontal if you are going to put it on a pen for example, then another version for your signage where it will be a bit larger and possibly more vertical. You may want to separate the image of Violet for putting on some items and the words only for other applications - this is all possible once the elements are determined. Hope this makes sense. I mainly want you to be happy with the logo... there are almost 3 days to go on the contest and you will see a lot of things come in... I hope that mine stays on top! (Unless you stop the contest early!)
I now prefer the one that is offset as well.....I guess I'm impressionable. I get what you are saying about separating the elements; that is awesome! I highly doubt anyone is going to beat your design :)
Hey Carol...in reference to entry #59...could you tell me the font you used for both "The Dog Bark" and the text underneath? My web designer friend and I are working on a website and he was wanting to know. Your logo looks so good on the website!!!! Also...he asked for a higher resolution picture? When the contest ends and I choose yours (90% sure that will be the case)...will I receive a higher resolution logo? (First timer...so many questions) :)
Yes - when the contest is over you will get both vector files and high resolution files of the designs - and I will provide other versions if you want - fonts and PMS and WEB numbers of the colors. I have customized the main font a bit from the selected font - and worked with spacing to make it fit right. If you are in a rush you can end the contest early - but that is your call. I hope it is finalized before I leave on vacation on August 13th - if I win... so I can be sure to send you everything you will need for web and print etc.
I see - Nancy is an excellent illustrator and she has captured a different feel of a big dog (current #2 rank) ... it is very different from the one I did to try to capture the expression of your dog - just what you want. If you end it early that is okay too. Do what you think is best...
Could you downsize the graphic to 70, 75 and 80 percent of it's original size? And post those? Nancy is good...but yours is still better! I will probably wait and let the contest end on it's own. It's almost over!
Oh...I did not see this until the contest had ended. I hope you will be able to change the brown shade a tiny bit and perhaps, show me the logo with a smaller dog head? 75%? If not, not the end of the world. I like it as it is.
