#58...i decided to take a new spin and add some other buildings to the skyline and by making them the lighter color allows the "spire" to stand out from the rest. fonts can obviously mix and match...please let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see.
Hey man, this is really evolving nicely. I like #67 a lot. Really like the 3 buildings, the blue sky, the 3D perspective, and how the spire "stands out" of the top of the icon. I'm not crazy about the lettering, but this early in the contest, I'm ranking these a lot more based on the icon than the lettering. I think we should keep the spire out of the "I" and just stick with 1 spire in the logo.
#82 is still sitting comfortably in second. The things that still may be holding it back:
1) I don't yet like the font, though I do like it better than #67. It needs more impact, but the font may have swung slightly too far in the formal direction.
2) One of the things that makes #79 work is the balance. The text and icon work nicely together. These two elements still feel a bit stuck together, but I think you're very close.
3) I'm concerned how this logo might look in a simpler color palette. Typically it's a non issue, and for most applications I'll be using the logo with every gradient and glow you give me - which is what I like about this. But occasionally I may need it in a single color - perhaps to embroider on a shirt or something -- and I'm not sure if the sky behind it will cause problems.
I hope my ongoing observations aren't annoying. I get different impressions each time I login to look, but I think we're getting a clearer picture all the time.
i love the ongoing observations! thank you for the feedback, it makes our job easier. i will be making several alterations tomorrow. i am away from my main system and the laptop is not cutting it very well. i will be returning home tomorrow and will work on some new font samples and i need to clean up that icon better as well. i will get the submitted as soon as i can. thanks!
finally made it home and have some better tools! here are some updated versions of my 3 building design along with some new font samples. i will be happy to try more fonts if you would like...that is an easy adjustment! also if you would like to see more colors let me know.
wow! great step forward in quality. I like the font in #265, and may like the lowercase version #266 fonts if the text were closer together. The icon I like best is #267 but I don't think I like the shadow underneath that makes my buildings look like hovercrafts. :) Not sure if I like the light blue side buildings or gray side buildings best... these are details I realize... you're getting close. I probably won't rank again until after the contest ends. Good work.
just wanted you to see this one with the building reflection...please let me know if there are any other variations you would like to see of this design.
Well, the contest is over, and I expected to clearly know which one would win at this point. But there are 3 designers with designs that I really like - yours included. I promise not to prolong this process longer than necessary. But can you put together just a couple variations of #308 for me? Here's what I'm looking for:
1. A shorter point on the spire -- maybe 50-70% of the current height. If this throws off the overall balance, then you might need to change the way the building as a whole is framed with the circle. Use your judgment, I'd just like to see one with less of a point for sake of comparison.
2. If I were to embroider this on a shirt, or turn it into a rubber stamp, I'll need a one color version. Would you show me how you'd recommend turning this logo into a one-color version, for the rare occasion when I might need it?
I am glad you like them...I would love to work on a t-shirt design for you as well ;) Let me know if there is anything more I can do...this has been a lot of fun working on.
Letter10Pro, I selected #165 as the winner, but this was a VERY tough contest to judge. You were right at the top of my list throughout the contest, and ended up #4 , out of nearly 500 entries. Thanks for your good work. I will be sending my clients to logo tournament when they need designs, and I'll tell them to be sure to invite you to the contest. You do great work.
