Overall the designers are off to a good start. The "bug" has less importance to me than the wordmark. The primary usage is on packaging so light wispy type probably will not work. The current ranking of the top 8 does not rule out script type, I would put the top 8 about even right now.
Might be helpful to see some of the logos reversed from a yellow/orange background as well as white, since the logo will need to be used both ways. I'm not opposed to a container of some sort.
I'm very happy with the logos that are being created. I will rank them each day to assist the designers in zeroing in on a direction.
I should have mentioned this before, but HEAT and WARMTH are POSITIVES, FLAME and FIRE is a BIG NEGATIVE in the heater biz. Every year a few unfortunate people get space heaters too close to combustibles and it ends up tragically.
I would stay away from symbols which look like a flame. Sun-like symbols are okay, as are more abstract ones. Rays, ray-like structures which symbolize radiating heat are okay.
21, 22, and 23 have a nice type treatment, but I would say the bug looks too much like a flame to be a finalist.
Thank you all for the new submissions. There are some really nice designs in the mix. It will be tough to choose a finalist from all the good ones here.
One thing I thought worth mentioning: please don't make your logos too small in the provided frame. It makes it difficult to compare them on equal footing if one fills the frame nicely and the others are little bitty ones. I know it should not make a difference, since they enlarge when you mouse over, but maybe on a subconscious level it puts that design at a slight disadvantage.
Wow, seeing all the submissions, I must say it's a one of the highest level contests, so far! Congrats to all participants (even though some of them unintentionally remind me British Petrol corporate identity :) )
To all the designers, you are making it very tough on me. The work being produced is exceptional. I have been in the business for over 25 years and I've seen some good and lots of bad work, and I have to say this is a very, very talented group here.
