What We Do
A landscape construction company, primarily serving the commercial sector – we take on large projects including public park upgrades, playgrounds, general garden construction, facilities maintenance etc; our capabilities include garden construction, planting, irrigation, hard landscaping including concrete, walls, segmental paving, custom architect designed elements.

Color Preferences
Green (a modern shade) – possibly with blue, & navy or grey – we have worked with a local graphic designer who produced a design with a combination of bright green & blue, with a navy blue background & white text & we quite liked this – but, open to other combinations, as this was the best of a poor selection. Also, it would be perhaps better if the design could be effectively used on a white background rather than requiring a dark background to stand out.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I have attached a selection of images showing what we do, as our website is currently under construction. We are changing our business name from Specialised Landscaping Services to SLS Landscape Group & are seeking to modernise our brand at the same time. Our previous logo is 30+ years old, & was an olive green shade with a cursive script font for the name & we wish to move away from this. I have attached this also.

Our brand is established locally as a reliable company operating in the commercial sector with integrity – managing & completing projects with a satisfactory outcome for all concerned, maintaining safety & efficiency. We are not a local gardening company working in people’s backyards, we focus on commercial construction projects, either as a subcontractor if it is a major building project, or as the main contractor if we are capable.

There is always the horticultural element of landscaping – we are not sure about this being the focus of our logo but open to ideas. Our thought was to incorporate the SLS acronym as part of our logo, but would consider an abstract mark with the name beside.

We would like to be able to use the logo with or without the slogan, possibly with or without the business name, depending on submissions.

We have attempted to work with a local graphics design company, & following a lack of consultation & less than satisfactory result, we have chosen to take this avenue looking for variety & new ideas to convey our brand as we would like.

Thanks for the designs submitted so far! I think what we’re noticing as we play with the submissions is that while we like the idea of having the SLS acronym become ‘the logo’ as in our current logo, making the connection between a stylised SLS & a plainer text ‘LANDSCAPE GROUP’ to read the full name of ‘SLS Landscape Group’ can be difficult. Therefore, we would be leaning towards either:

1. Abstract or pictorial mark with the full name beside
2. Using the acronym SLS to create an abstract/pictorial mark, but use the full name SLS Landscape Group beside/under

Hope this helps, I am working towards making some individual comments also.

I have added the catalogue image of the polo top to the attachments which is part of our uniform, fyi. We would probably have the logo embroidered/printed on these. This doesn't necessarily cut blue/navy out.

Or grey... if any parts of our chosen logo are grey, I would just substitute white in the polo shirt design.

Enjoying seeing the submissions pop in – thank you!

Just like to clarify on our preferences for anyone out there who is yet to submit... as we review what’s coming in, we are definitely finding a preference for abstract, geometric – but that creates a recognisable image in itself.

It’s not a foregone conclusion & we are still open to other ideas, but the idea of some impression of a tree we feel also helps to make the connection from our outgoing logo – not necessarily the same shape or proportions, just the perception of a tree - nevertheless we do want to communicate the concept of more than just trees or planting in our logo.
