hello, a simple but clever lettermark logo for your consideration. modern, smooth sans serif as requested, executed in a subtle web2.0 fashion. let me know if you like the idea, the execution can be worked on if your not happy with it (if you want it to be more 3d for example.) any other feedback would be great, thanks, bugy.
different way of presenting the same idea, any feedback would be great. what do you think of the colour? i went for orange simple to avoid CMY, let me know if you would like to see others
Hi Bugy - thanks for the submissions. #31 #32 and #33 aren't strong enough to have the impact we're looking for, however we very much like the route #42 is taking. Would you be able to provide a purple (c75,m100,y0,k0) option for this logo, and toss up any other rendering ideas you may have?
Looking good, mate. We're Melbourne based, though will be going National with this new brand.
Bugy, can you do me a quick favour and conver #42 to a solid black - minus the rendering. Our request for a web 2.0-style, rendered logo that can also be applied in mono has a couple of people confused. Would be great to show them it can be done. ;)
hey thanks for the feedback, appreciate it =) ill get to work on those requests this afternoon. I get what you mean about web2.0 with monotone capability, some of the 'designers' here see "web2.0" and make some crazy shiny thing with a tonne of effects that looks rubbish when its reduced to monotone because it has no substance. I'm also Melbourne based =) living just near Caufield.
Thanks mate. I think phatphreddy is a great font, but when combined with your 'scoop' out of the top, it looks like a really agressive logo. Kind of like a pair of angry eyes. We're actually more liking your original font in #56
We love the 'POP' (for lack of a better term - apologies for the generality) of this logo concept. http://www.team100k.org/images/eqologo.png Would you be able to play with #56 and throw down a background to achieve this kind of look? The first priority is for the logo to jump at you on the homepage, which is the most important logo application for us.
We're also not opposed to the use of a minimal, subtle abstract mark, so if you have any ideas on this front, we'd love to see what you have. http://www.finsbury.com.au/Default.aspx?p=1 have a simple logo that works well with a little abstract mark representing paper.
yea i sort fo felt the same with the phatphreddy one, something about the O's didnt quite look right. Ive done this one (#65) in a very similar presentation style to the logo you posted, i think it really helps to make it jump off the page, the combination of a coloured background and the dark shadow makes a big difference. Im assuming your planning to build your website (colour wise at least) around the logo?
ill see what i can do as far as an abstract mark goes, i think it might detract from the simplicity of this logotype to have an accompanying mark but you never know till you see it with these things =)
thanks for the detailed feedback, keep me posted, bugy
#56 is still definitely on track, but we'd love to see it jump off the page more. Have a look at the rendering and outline of #71 as this example looks well polished. It might help it jump off the purple background a bit more too.
You guessed correctly - the entire styling of the site will be based around the logo design! That's why it's so very important to us.
ok hows this one, ive used a different, more rounded typeface. the 'scoop' taken out of the top is now one big smooth line which not only looks cleaner but also helps to accentuate the idea. I think one of the problems with my previous entries was that i was using too many gradients and they became too busy, the eye got distracted and the overall impact wasn't as big. this one achieves a big bold 3d look with nothing but solid colours which really helps to draw the eye. I'm really liking this one =) its the sort of logo people will look at and think "ok, company called skoop, nice looking logo.........................oh i get it!" and its that "i get it!" moment that really makes the logo, and therefore the company name, really memorable. Even if they 'get it' instantly, i still think having a slight element of 'clever' can really help the power of a logo and make it more memorable. keep the feedback coming =) bugy.
and the new version in b&w so you can see what that looks like. i think this is also more effective in b&w than the last one because its bolder and also more smooth and clean
Good morning Bugy, very nice update with #93 - it's definitely more polished than the previous. I think you nailed the reasons in your above message. Less gradient + better use of solids to create depth. Looks great in all applications (though we don't like it on black).
We weren't a fan of the #66 but that's not your issue. The logo just doesn't work on a solid ground in it's rendered form. We're not constricted by any existing boundaries, so if we went down that path, we'd simply not use a solid purple ground.
I personally like the square-edge fonts, as I think they're stronger from a corporate viewpoint. The web 2.0 styling is a little playful, but done crisply, it still presents professionally. I think the round font + web 2.0 makes it a little too fun. I'm not writing them off, I just would like to see #56 with the same colour and bordering as #93
yea i get what you mean about the rounded typefaces, they lack that serious feel. ive got an idea for an abstract mark to accompany the text, just havent been able to get it to look quite the way i want it yet. as requested:
The darker colour alone gives it more impact. #108 is definitely my preference out of the concept you have developed thus far. I wouldn't mind seeing this concept with a slightly thicker external keyline and (if it looks any good) no keyline around the internal white type.
ey mate, sorry about my inactivity, ive been really busy with my studies with semester ending and all. this is the abstract mark i had in mind, four falling pieces of paper that form the letter 'S' in between them. I'm going to post a few colour variations as well. let me know if you want to see any changes =)
#342, i made sure i didn't have any of the pages folded because i would have had to use shading to make it work and this would have been lost and looked odd in b&w
I still like your original simple logo, but the consensus at our end is that a colourful abstract mark may be necessary to push the colour printing angle. #341 looks good, but your abstract mark isn't winning to many votes. If you have any other mark ideas, swap them out on #341 and bounce them through.
ok, just to go out of a limb i did this one, still the same simple wordmark logo that you and i both like, this time with colour printing written all over it =)
Always good to mix it up, but #374 isn't corporate enough for our market. #388 is a nice new angle, but there would need to be more rendering on the abstract mark for it to work in symmetry with the rendered text. The colours aren't bold enough either. Perhaps some strong red, blue and yellow/orange?
