Since Scott is the center of ScottWorld I used Scott's head as the planet! It is lighthearted, but still shows that Scott is an expert at what he does and a "Star".
Thank you so much for your submission! This is adorable... I love the lighthearted playfulness of it, and how you're drawn right into his friendly smile.
My only concern is that after a few minutes of looking at it, I'm starting to wonder if Scott just had his lights punched out and that he may be a little bit dizzy and "seeing stars". Of course, I could just be looking too deep into it. :)
I also wonder what this would look like with a splash of color somewhere.
Thank you so much for creating these very nice revisions. Funny, after seeing it without the stars, I actually decided that I like the stars better after all. And, after seeing all 4 of these, I actually like #1 the best -- your original submission with just one unified color.
Would it be possible for me to see #1 with the word "World" not in bold?
Haha... see, this is why the competition holder should just let the designers do their thing. :) I think I still like #1 the best out of all of these! Actually, #7 is growing on me. I think #1 and #7 are tied for my favorites out of this concept.
Thanks so much for the extra font idea! Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the tech font because it makes the logo look classic instead of modern.
HOWEVER -- I do like the placement of the text underneath the character. I could see when I might need to use both situations: sometimes with the text to the right of the character, and sometimes with the text underneath the logo.
Could you do me a few favors? - Could I see #1 with the word "Scott" bolded instead of "World"? And with the text in both positions (to the right, and underneath)? - Could I also see #6 with the word "Scott" bolded instead of "World"? And same thing with the text? - And could I see #7 with the text underneath?
Here you go... Also, I could always give you both versions, one with text on bottom and one with text next to icon. You can use them for various purposes depending on what would work best.
These are really awesome. Thank you so much. That would be so great to get both "text versions" at the end of the contest if this is the winning logo. So far in the contest, this is my favorite concept. I've definitively decided that if I choose this concept as the winner that I'm definitely keeping the stars as part of the logo. But I'm still comparing all the starry ones to see which one I like best -- so many great ones to choose from!! :) Thank you so much for your creative work.
Another attempt. A play on Mac Software packaging & a little more shading on Planet Scott. 2 things to consider when selecting your logo. 1-will it print just as well in black and white? 2-Will you run into any copyright issues? Just some food for thought.
Thanks for these new entries! I really like the new gradient of the blue face in #46 and the new yellow gradient of the stars and the orbit. I like the new font too! Not crazy about the gigantic "Pro Since '92" thing which mimics the FileMaker Pro box. I think my standard slogan (in regular size, minus the word "Pro") underneath the new graphical elements would be a great combination.
Not crazy about #47 which looks too much like the FileMaker Pro box shot.
Also, sorry about the shift to #2! This has been a real gut-wrenching exercise for me, because I've been torn for the last few days. I did an opinion poll of my clients, and they all unanimously picked the winking globe as their favorite entry. I didn't guide my clients at all on their responses, yet 4 of them (all on their own) thought that it looked like I was dizzy or seeing stars in your concept. Even without the stars, they thought the orbit made me look dizzy.
I personally still like it a lot, though, so even if you don't win this contest, I may hire you separately in the future to create some very cool silhouetted images just like this for other parts of my website. I'm still going to need logos designed for all the new sections of my website when I revamp the entire site, and I think that going with silhouettes like your concept may be the way to go. So I may still be able to use your outstanding creativity & talent in the very near future, regardless of the outcome of this contest!! :)
Also, if I end up selecting the winking globe and then Apple sues me for trademark infringement, then your concept would be the next one I would go to!
