The idea that i'm showing can tie into other things as well(promo kit being the hexagon). I want to show you the icon of the Redactors Studio Bee and so on. It's not completely tightened up, but i want to see if you all have a positive reaction with the look before i move forward with tighter lines and details.

Thanks for the great entry. I love the bee - for me he's positive, hardworking. I want to stay away from the honey-comb themes and the use of honey but I really like hefting the big object - perhaps we can use more of a media theme (film reel, film frame, whatever comes to your mind) for that object itself.

Love the reel and the fact that it implies motion in the bee by hanging at an angle - I get the notion that he's working his little butt off. I really like the compact (squareness?) of 128, as opposed to the more spread out 141. The blue shape is nice as a shadow in 128, but too 1950s as an oval highlighter in 141. If you were aiming for giving the impression of an era, I'm wondering how you feel about something 1930s - the age of travel and motion (the art-deco trains and planes and similarly styled soviet propeganda posters) would fit in with the bee and flying and working hard. I realize that's waaaaay in left field at this point, but I'm thinking if we can pull some essential element from that idea and use it to mold the text and how the text fits with the graphic.

just got this message....cool with me...i will work with more of a square layout....no problem on drawing from the soviet propeganda posters....i have plenty of reference for that...research time....

in the oval one...it was really placed there to create an environment, but i can see how it can be interpreted as a 50's reference....just so ya know where my head was with that one.

This one is so on-target for me. This really hits at nice art deco feel in terms of shape and colour. We're down to picking nits here, but what if we took the very light blue from the center of the wings and used it to fill the white in the bounding box? What I'm thinking is that the steel blue is very industrial and worker-bee for me (which is fabulous!). The white seems oddly out of place in that impression. I think you're maybe thinking along those lines, too because I see a number of your other submissions are working around that idea (pulling other colors to fill). I like the simpler and smaller film real in 165. Because of the crop of the box, the larger reel with a center hole starts looking odd (although it's perspectively correct, it seems off and that's part of the nature of cropping complex things in cirles...). Thanks for your hard work on this one.
