Our Target Audience:

Color Preferences
Red, Green or Blue but must be able to be translated to a reverse monochrome logo for fishing rod decals.
#1 Like the little icon but a bit fine when reduced to a size that can be seen on a fishing rod decal. Like the brush style script but this version is a bit too classical/formal. Thank-you!
Thanks all! I like the designs so far but would like them to be much more 'aggressive'? Most of our rods are designed for aggressive species of fish so maybe incorporate something like this?
Think big supreme top predators, toothy, aggressive, wild. A rapier is also a slim and pointed precision weapon, fast and nimble, designed to kill quickly. Or see this site to get an idea of the markets we are targeting:
Except that the teeth of the fish look like whiskers? :) Anyway to extend the nose of the fish a bit more out and down, and curve the mouth of the fish slightly inwards instead of outwards while keeping the teeth and not ruin the look? I really like the addition of extending the tail of the 'R' that way. It looks like it could be the lower jaw of the fish. THANK-YOU for your efforts.
We like tagg3r's designs. The iconic fish and the font choice works well with the cutting edge designs of our products. The icon is generic enough that it will work with all the different target species that we build rods for. Also with minor adjustments the design also lends itself to many different applications like caps, product hangtags, apparel and decals on the rods.
We also like Vypa's #55 but the fish icon somehow seems a bit 'whimsical'? Not sure if that is the right word. :) The rest of the design works for us but not the fish icon.
Thank-you all for the contributions so far. You all have worked hard and we really do appreciate all your efforts.

Please look at the logo for pelagicgear.com. Notice it has a unique font type for the name and the logo is just a P with a fish icon. Both are used for all their products and it works well for them.
We think this is the direction we would like to go. We would consider very favorably an logo like that and would consider a unique font being the primary identifier and the fish icon as a supplementary item that would change depending on the target market that we introduce the product in.
Example: Rapier with an icon of a tuna for our tuna rod series Rapier with an icon of a striped bass for the rods for that species etc..
Hope it is not too late for you guys to come up with something like that.
ulahts, i'm sorry you don't like my design, but there is no need for negative feedback like that! It is all my own design, and in no way a "horrible trace" or someone elses clip art!
