On the right trck. We like the "finish line" motif. I'm concerned that the slogan is a little too cramped and hard to discern one word from the next. The colors are a bit dark, which we like, but for comparison's sake, can we see an option with more vibrant, gender-neutral colors (if there is such a thing).
This concept is very solid and clean. Can you experiment with two other color combinations? Either a green/something and a more navy/something? Red is such an iconic color with athletic imagery, but several of the sites that we are pegging against are also in this color range and we wanted to see our options. http://athlinks.com/ http://racecoursereview.com/ -Also, can you play with the slogan a bit...the separation between the words is a bit hard to pick up and the words run together.
#42 and #45 are very helpful, thanks for providing those. I'm going to sit with these overnight and let you know if I have any further comments tomorrow.
Hi, I still really like #43, but one concern I have in comparing it with other submissions, is that it is very serious. Not bad, mind you, but I like to think that, in the end, the purpose of this site is to cater to people who enjoy these races, find them fun, etc. They train seriously, but this is a past-time and I like the idea of some whimsy or at least a less edgy approach. The concept and colors are very good, but I'm just evolving my opinions as new submissions roll in.
I see your point but not sure I agree. The symbol I created is simple and iconic and will be able to one day stand alone without "RACING BRIEFS" under it. I work in the Triathalete market and everything we do is more on the serious side. I will keep playing with it and see if I can lighten it up a little.
Hi Chad, Thanks for the feedback. Triathletes are a little intense, I agree. Definitely hard to be everything to everyone, and i accept that. My wife is a USAT Triathlon Coach and she trains a team of 60 novice women every summer to do their first spring distance triathlon. Many of them catch the bug and ask her advice on other local races. At that point, they're still dipping their toes in the water, so to speak. I wouldn't want to intimidate them, but don't want to lose the serious amateur either. So, a fine line. I also want to make sure that the cyclist, runner, distance swimmer, etc, feel like this site is a resource for them as well. That's why I wrote about the "fun" part as well.
That being said, I agree that the symbol you created will stand very well on its own, which is something I've already taken into account.
Then you had to go and share 71 and 72 with me, which makes it doubly hard. The symbol does a very nice job of capturing the racing side of things and the review side with the manila folder concept. A great blending of the site concept visually. I think 72 works a bit better with the gray contrast element making the folder image pop a bit more. I'm not sure what changes I would ask for on these. Then again, it's late for me. I'll sleep on this and see if anything else comes to mind.
Hi Chad, One request, can you create a variation of #72 where all the elements are in a line instead of stacked? I'm not sure if the folder would appear first or last, but I had that thought when looking at it today. It might enable it work in more applications if it laid out that way (taking up less vertical space), but wanted to see it first to compare.
This is perfect, gives me options to compare. Thank you very much for all the executions. And I appreciate the offer about the variations, I was wondering about that.
Gotta study the finalists now (of which you are obviously one).
Hi Chad, Just wanted to update you. I extended the contest by 2 days, not to make anyone crazy, but I had asked for revisions from two other designs that I liked and there was only an hour left in the contest. Since my goal is to get the best possible work, it didn't made sense to enforce the arbitrary deadline. Anyway, I wanted to let you know what had happened and that it wasn't any dissatisfaction with the ideas that I had already received.
Hi Chad, So, I'm still working my way through this decision. I'm wondering if you could show me 2-3 different type-face options paired with images #150 and 80. I'll leave the recommendations up to you, but something a little less techno, maybe a little cleaner (without the nodules), I'm not sure, but just for comparison's sake.
No problem. I had one other question for you, what would this logo look like in B&W (grayscale is different correct?). I printed out the final 3 that I am pondering (yours is one obviously) and printed them to my B&W printer by accident. I know that I was printing a color logo in B&W, so that wasn't a good representation, but the gradients and the figure inside the folder were harder to make out. Can you show me what a B&W image would look like, since that is something we would be using going forward?
Hopefully this is the last request I'll make, but it's easier to see some things vs. trying to merge them in my mind or imagine them. Can you show me two more options. Can you show me image #213 using the primary color in 24 & 45 (so, one reddish/gray and one bluish/gray)? I like the green, but am just laying it out against some things here and the color variations would be helpful.
Hi All done....congratulations on some great work! We're really happy with the final design. Clean, athletic, and we think it does a nice job of giving us some flexibility for using the "runner/folder" as a mark going forward. I appreciate your patience in providing all the extra looks throughout, it was very helpful with what was a challenging decision.
A few logo requests: A) I think we like the blue version that I selected as the winner the best. Can you let me know the Pantone and RGB colors that you used? B) Can you let me know the font that you used as well? C)In addition to the EPS and JPG versions of the actual logo, I would like copies of the B&W versions you did for the final logo (213, 314, 215) D) Can you create a version that doesn't have the slogan (just the image and the word "racing briefs"?)
We were torn by the colors in 217 and 194, but ended up picking the blue. In case we revisit the color issue, can you let me know the colors you used for those two versions?
