Discussion

This patch style logo has a conservationist feel. This would be very cool on the bicep part of a sleeve or on t-shirts as well as letterhead.

This logo is a bit more modern, but still says conservation. This would look great on a light or dark background!

An updated shined look for the same logo idea. Shiny logos are harder to print in certain applications, but look great on websites and print pieces! This could be used in combination with the flat version.

We haven’t got many responses at this point, but of the three designs I like the simplicity of tree ( I ranked #1), and how you fitted “incorporated” in to the theme…..nice.

The logo theme is not about removing the introduced animals... (so you are on the right track with the tree) it is about preserving whats left of the worlds endangered endemic species and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity to what it was like before man introduced these animals.

I know the name "Prohunt" doesnt actually give you that picture, but it came from our New Zealand company, and it has an international reputation for being the leaders in this field.

I'm not sure if the gun scope site idea is too aggressive, but I thought it might work and it looks clean and would be memorable.

Same logo, but with the "INC" smaller and abbreviated.

Inset trees and bushes in the wording.

I noticed in your description that you use helicopters to do some of your work. This is definitely specific to your company, so I thought this might be a memorable symbol for Prohunt.

I really like the patch idea for a conservation company, so I'm submitting this too.

Hi,
Sorry I have been away from my computer trout fishing for the weekend, I really like #20 and #22. Let me have a think over night and I will come up with some constructive comments.

Great, look forward to it. How are the trout biting? By the way, where are you based out of?

I had a bit of a discussion with Kelvin my business partner and we do like the concept trees and the birds in #20. its simple and effective. The only problem is it looks a bit like an african savannah. Can you take that concept and convert it to something that looks like Sierra's or the Rockies.
You are doing great, there is some really good options, its making it really hard to choose.

Glad you're liking my stuff. I have really enjoyed this one. They usually flow or don't and this one has from the beginning! I am submitting 3 maybe 4 more... you'll see the variations. Let me know if you want to see any other options. Happy to do it.

No tree, just mountains.

Thought of this one while I was uploading the others. I still favor the tree and the birds, but this has a nice feel to it too.

The latest designs are great, I love the mountains and the colours especially in #28. You are right it the logo has a nice peaceful feel.
I am not sure where to go from here so I am going to talk to Kelvin and the others in the team and get their comments and get back to you tomorrow. You have the idea on the direction we are looking for so if you have got your own twist on what would be better give it a go.

One of the problems with Logo Tournament is the mass amount of options. One of the nice things about the logos I have been doing for you is they are easily broken apart for different applications. For instance, you could use the tree on a polo shirt with Prohunt underneath, or the full logo for the web or print. I'm pretty happy with these as they are, so I'll probably let you guys work with these although I may have some more color options. Thanks for the look!

Here’s a heads up on today’s developments. The reason we were developing a logo was to finally close down our New Zealand Company- Prohunt NZ Ltd and to rebrand it to our US Company Prohunt Inc. Instead today after much soul searching we decided now we are going to close down both Prohunt Inc and Prohunt NZ and expand the range of services of our other company- Native Range.... a company which specializes in ecological restoration (invasive weeds, birds, mustilids and invertebrates to include the services that Prohunt offers.
I think this approach has a lot of benefits in terms of making Native Range a one stop shop for ecological restoration and I think the Native Range branding will be much more socially acceptable.
The good news is that the logo's you have come up with really only need a name change because the concept we are looking for is the same.

What we are going to do is extend the contest time line and also increase the prize money to $450 so you guys have an opportunity to adapt to the change.

I am going to amend the contest information to reflect the changes.

Please look at the Native range website; http://www.native-range.com/home.html to give you an idea about what it’s all about, and if you just combine the information about Prohunt that you already have, you will be golden.

I apologize if this change has caused you any inconvenience.

Let me know if you have any questions

Regards

I tried to get as many of these turned around as quick as possible. I think there are six new updates.

Thanks for the very prompt update.
I meant to get back to about the trout. We went to the Upper Owens River, just past Bishop CA. Heaps of fish (caught and released around 50) but pretty small - 13" would be the biggest but its a little early in the season. A really nice place to fly fish though, if you like steam fishing.
I am going to get some feed back from the Director of Native Range (he's been at a conferance for the last couple of days), I will let you know how that turns out, ...I am known to get a little tunnel vision.

PS: the update to the prizemoney should occur soon, I have done my part.

I've been tinkering around with this. What do you think of this font compared to the other. It's a bit edgier. Are you guys wanting more of a refined conservation idea or an edgier adventure type theme?

I have a few comments on entry #54.

Can you incorporate the font used on our name from our website (see www.native-range.)? I believe it is Arial, but not sure. Also, is it possible to remove the birds. Although we like the them, it will be hard to show them accurately on items that are embroidered. Is it possible to use a California oak species like the one on this link (http://gallery.pictopia.com/davidsanger/photo/2202902/)? The canopy is a bit more flat than round.

One idea we had was to try to stylize a scraggly oak silloutte into the shape of a helicopter growing on the side of a hill or mountain. The canopy of the oak would be the main rotar, while the trunk would be the cab of the helicopter. The tail would be an oak branch growing to the side, with a clump of canopy to look like the rear rotar. Very stylized, but not cartoonie looking.

Ok, I am going to submit a few entries one at a time based on your most previous notes. You mentioned embroidery. Any logo that gets into detail is going to be hard and most of the ones you have looked at so far on this site including mine will get pretty difficult on a polo. So, for one of the new entries I am going back to the idea of my very original logo design with just the tree and the name. The font is off your website, Arial Bold and the color is almost identical to the border on the site. Oh yeah... and the California OAK! :) Thanks for considering these.

I am submitting 2 more entries that are slightly different, but close. The coloring is different, so if you like one more than the other, but visa versa on the color than let me know and I can swap. I think that made sense. This also has the new CA Oak and no birds. Also, there is ocean/water added at the bottom. "Mountains to the sea" Alright, thanks again!

Thanks for submitting the last two entries.

We definately like the new oak and the removal of the birds, but I don't know if the blue line at the bottom of the new entries will come across as representing the sea. The changes are different enough that we are leaning towards entry number #54 again.

Can you add the new oak to entry #54.
Replace the brown/tan background with white to see how it might look on letter head, business cards, etc?
The font in entry #54 is still not exactly what we are looking for, and the font in the new entries maybe right, but the color gradation and outline are not what we are looking for. Can you play with the fount a bit more?

Let me know if you need me to provide any further details.

Thanks,
John

One of the types of logos I love is this style and we hadn't taken a look at it yet, so here are a couple color ideas. This would print awesome and would work in every application for sure.

Stumbled upon this while trying another logo design. I had to remove the tree, but it resulted in a nice clean logo! I love it. Thanks.

A little bit different helicopter front. I can show you this in any color if you want to see something else.

We really like #88, but it is too much helicopter, and we like #83 as well, but has no helicopter.

Can you try superimposing #88 on #83? Maybe placing the forward moving helicopter of #88 in the foreground to the right of the mountains in #83? Also, is it possible to lower the slope of the mountains in #83 just at the end so there is not so much of a cut off on either end? Lastly, if the font is bolded, can you unbold it so it is a bit softer?

Thank you,
John

Ok Guys,

I'm uploading 4 entries at 1:30 am. I have a funeral tomorrow and will be unable to participate any further, so this is my last shot. I think I covered all the requests. Remember, whoever is ranked first when the contest ends that designer can continue to revise during the judging process. It doesn't mean you have chosen that designer's entry, it just means you can keep working and "tweaking" the design (colors, fonts) until you arrive at what you are looking for. Thanks for looking at my entries, this has been a fun project. Jason

One last thing, I think 124 is the culmination of a lot of work and your input. I think it would work in any application print or web, even embroidery. It doesn't have any gradients, so you don't have to worry about that. Anyway, thanks again!
