I tried to emphasize flowing, natural lines with this design, focusing on the environmental nature of your work. I then balanced this out with a somewhat rugged, bold font to provide a nice contrast. I wasn't sure if you wanted the "incorporated" text included so I provided both versions for your consideration. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see changed.

I added some more font considerations, opening up the range a bit on how modern or classical you want the design to feel.

SilverMombius,
Great concept. I like it a lot. (especially #10)
Can we try it with Prohunt as one word (all lower or upppercase) and perhaps using a similar font to whats on this page (tahoma?). Also can we make the river a little narrower under the mountain and perhaps get the bends to flow more smoothly. The bottom of blue and the green seems fine.. I would be interested to see if you can come up with any other variations on that.

Okay, here are a couple variations with your suggestions implemented. I smoothed out the curves and made the river smaller, as well as using all capitals/lowercase for the main text, though I left "Incorporated" in standard form, unless you would like that in all caps or lowercase as well?

You'll also see that in the second 2 submissions I altered the way the lines terminate below the text, giving it more of a swooping underline effect. It makes the design a bit more compact and might be a bit better for practical purposes.

Thanks for the feedback, and don't hesitate to ask for more changes as you see fit. I will continue to work on design variations to come up with what works best for you.

For this one I decided to try something new with the same general direction. It's a bit more complex, but it feels a bit more "contained" being in a circle rather than open on the edges like the other one; somewhat appropriate for your line of work, no?

Hope you like it, I'm just sort of playing around with different ways of representing a similar concept to the original, which you seemed to like.

I talked to Kelvin (my business partner) and your #24 is the favourite. We did like the concept a lot, were think you are definitly on the right track .

There were some suggestions that might be helpful for you.
1/ Make the mountains look more like realistic (i.e "snow" on the top).
2/ Start the river at the saddle between the mountains.
3/ Use a finer/thinner font like Calibri (or similar) for Prohunt.
4/ Maybe a a coulour gradiant going from the blue of the river fading to sky blue instead of the grey above the mountain and then fading to grey on the right hand side until it meets the river again. I'm not sure it will work but it would be interesting to be able to look at it.

Thanks again, your doing great.

Hey Norm,

Added a couple new variants taking your suggestions into consideration. I mostly adapted from the design you currently have placed in first, trying to create a sleeker overall design with a more realistic mountainscape. Hope you like them, and again, your feedback is much appreciated!

Robert,
Thanks for taking all my comments onboard. I am really grateful for all the effort you have put in. The designs are great. I like the white because its so clean and simple... but I like the others as well, so I am not sure where to go from here. I dont want to stifle your creativity so if you have your own twist to this i would really like to see it. Let me check with Kelvin and get his comments and I will get back to you tomorrow.

Robert,
Here’s a heads up on today’s developments. The reason we were developing a logo was to finally close down our New Zealand Company- Prohunt NZ Ltd and to rebrand it to our US Company Prohunt Inc. Instead today after much soul searching we decided now we are going to close down both Prohunt Inc and Prohunt NZ and expand the range of services of our other company- Native Range.... a company which specializes in ecological restoration (invasive weeds, birds, mustilids and invertebrates to include the services that Prohunt offers.
I think this approach has a lot of benefits in terms of making Native Range a one stop shop for ecological restoration and I think the Native Range branding will be much more socially acceptable.
The good news is that the logo's you have come up with really only need a name change because the concept we are looking for is the same.

What we are going to do is extend the contest time line and also increase the prize money to $450 so you guys have an opportunity to adapt to the change.

I am going to amend the contest information to reflect the changes.

Please look at the Native range website; http://www.native-range.com/home.html to give you an idea about what it’s all about, and if you just combine the information about Prohunt that you already have, you will be golden.

I apologize if this change has caused you any inconvenience.

Let me know if you have any questions

Regards

Norm,

Good to hear that you guys are consolidating the business under a new identity. Hopefully it won't work to much to undo the reputation you had as Prohunt, but I think you're right in saying the new name conveys a better picture of what you guys are actually about.

In any case, here are my newest designs. I tried to play off of the "clean" style that you seemed to like, mostly messing around with the gradients to see whether you like more of the blue-only or blue and green combination. There's a couple more ways I can integrate color, but I'm cautious to add in much else because you seem to prefer the simpler designs.

Robert,
Sorry I have been not giving you a lot of feedback because I have been trying to get some ideas from the other people in the business and its been difficult because these people have been in meetings and away from computers and phones... this is because I am afraid of getting tunnel vision and getting you to do something that only appeals to me. The concensus is that maybe I am leaning toward cold colours so your thoughts on the gradients is spot on, warm it up with maybe some browns.....dont be afraid to experiment and give us a design on what you think Native Range represents. I like what you have done but as far as designs go the world is your oyster....
I am going to track down John, who is Native ranges director and get him to give you his feed back.

Keep up the great work.

Norm

P.S. the prize money increase has been done and should be posted soon.

Hi Robert,
Norm finally got a hold of me. We were looking at #46.

The broad oval outline seems to distract from the interior of the oval. Can you make the oval thinner?

Also, can you try to have the stream empty out to the right of the mountains, i.e. the right-side of the oval. If possible, can you try to make the stream at the end look like the sea? Our work takes us from the mountains to the ocean.

Can you use the font used on our company name from our website www.native-range.com ? I believe it is Arial, but am not quite sure.

Lastly, without changing the mountains too much, can you play with them by giving them a more rugged look, than a straight slope. Most of the mountains in California are not so uniform.

Thanks,
John
