Color Preferences
We prefer blues, purple, grey, orange, black and white (yellow and green okay too).
Red is okay but only as an accent.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
Yes, yes, yes! Here's some motivational ideas:
Consider flux as a force field.
Feel free to use a stylized + sign to represent positive (although please avoid it looking like a religious symbol or the red cross).
3D elements are helpful.
For media, consider ratios 16:9 (the shape of an HDTV set) or other technological icons
We help clients to choose from an infinite number of possibilities down to the choices that will benefit them best.
Have fun!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for being the first to submit designs. We really appreciate your energy this far. Some early comments below.

#1. We like the treatment of the arrowhead between the U and the X and very much like the treatment of the T. The design could use more color, and we do not care for the flames (?) on the right (by the way, they also look like a mouth and tongue)

#2 Very much like the color selection in this entry the green offsets the black nicely. The treatment of the F where the name is spelled out is especially good and we like the font, it is crisp and fun. In the symbol, we're not sure that the F with the plus will hold up on its own (without the words nearby) and would like to see this adjusted to be stronger (so that it is clearly an f). The circle shape does not add anything, lets try another.

#3 and 4: We are excited to see a symbol which reflects the F in flux, and the plus sign in 3D in one object. The treatment of the edges gives the logo energy. We like it against the black, but it doesn't seem to hold up well enough. These are very good, and might be better if the f in the shape was a little more pronounced (perhaps taller?)

Keep em coming. Great start!

Some more comments, first on the ones not selected:

#15 - nice idea to bring the Television into the logo. Try to stay away from Tube televisions, they are already passe. Modern sets are 16:9 and have squared corners.

#11 - We preferred your #12 which has more dimension to it.

Thanks for the new entries

#5, 6, 7, 8 - enjoying the new colors. On our screens we are still having trouble discerning the shape on the black background. Can we lighten it up just a touch to make it stand out a little more? Also, can we try a version which does not come to a point on the ends (top & bottom maybe rounded or blunt) just to see what it would look like?

#13 Is clever. Some concerns about seeing the F before the P (not sure what can be done about that).

#10 is growing on us. Can we use the f from #2?

Great ideas!

#26 - like the colors and the "swiss army knife" look, we definitely see a P in it, but not sure what else we should be seeing in the negative space.

#22 - we really love the floating organic 3D shape of the P. Can we try this with other shapes?

#19 - graceful and fun - but not sure of the motivation. A flux would have more lines, if its a P and F then its not sufficiently clear.

Thanks for all the great entries so far. They have been creative and fun, please keep it up.

All the logos so far have been working with the name, Positive Flux, or the initials - can we get some that add media technology, project management or helping to create decisions from many options?

Thanks again - love the energy and ideas.

Some very nice new ideas today - thanks.

#35 - We like the spiral flux shape - its edgy and different. This could be improved by forming some meaningful pattern in the negative space in the middle of the shape.

#34 - simple elegance with the blocky plus. It looks as though the plus is having an idea and sitting amidst a flux below. One of our favorites so far. We'd like to also see this with the name to the side instead of the bottom..

#39 - a nice improvement over #10. Thank you.

#28 - simple and clear. We'd like to see it have more punch (but we're really not sure what that means!)

#40 - like that the logo is set in a tv screen. Would like to see this developed more. Note sure we're sold on the typeface though.

#30 - nice use of 3D we like the coloring and the layout, but not convinced that infinity is the right symbol.

Thanks again - lets try to get media, technology, decision making, value creation or project management themes in. Hope you are having fun making these, because we are really enjoying looking at them.

Dear Larry,

thank you for making my design as one of your favorites. I will as soon as possible to make the option with the name to the side instead of the bottom.

Great work! Keep them coming!

#41-43 Love the energy and color and the use of 3D space. These designs are too complex. Try to find some simpler solutions which focus on our company's missing.

#44 Clever but does not illicit any energy or emotion.

#45 & 46 - Nice and clever use of the V. This reminds us of the logo for a US regional phone company verizon. <www.verizon.com> If we use this the color of the checkmark would have to be different.

#47 - The chrome look is different and we really like the typefaces. See comments for #51/52/53 below

#48-50 We're not sure if the circle is a better treatment than the squares. We definitely prefer the name of the company next to the symbol rather than below, and like the use of color in the name to match the logo.

#51-53 Nice and neat. There have been several logos this far which show a swirl (lets call it a flux) going around internally. This can also appear that something is going down the drain especially in a round shape. We should be careful with this.

Lets think of a flux as a force field, a series of lines which form a 3 dimensional plane which is not flat.
for inspiration see the following (but it mus be much simpler!)

Some wonderful entries in the last 24 hours. Please keep them coming. In your motivation, please try to find a way to include making order from chaos and/or media, technology in the themes.

#54 - one of our two tops so far. Simple and elegant. See if you can include one of two items above to really make it resonate with us.

#53 - this got a "wow" from some of our team members. Not sure how it will hold up in print, but we love the energy.

#63-67 Brandmaster, welcome to the tourney. Please read through some of the notes above. Really like the font and some of the ideas.

We'll be ranking again later tonight.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks for all the new entries. Several of them are becoming very colorful, which is fine. We'll be using the logo on our web site, in our printed literature and on business cards. Please ensure that logos submitted will print well and still be discernible in B&W.

Thanks again.

#82 - Very very nice. Can we please make the font a little bolder?

Thanks for all the great entries. We've has some comments that the colorful example of flux may be difficult to represent on the web, print and with a white background. For some new inspiration, take a look at the following simpler interpretation of flux...

Thanks again! Keep them coming. Love the energy.

We assume from all the cool new designs that you were able to get the link to work.

#95, 96 97 - really think this concept is cool. Can we try some alternative shapes? Also, lets try the logo next to the company name.

#98 is simply beautiful. Not sure how it will hold up in B&W or on a white background.

#99 and 100. Vortex is a good symbol. We also like the way it goes from disorganization to almost parallel lines. 2 suggestions. The ends look sharp and can be seen as knives which is not the message we want to send, can these be softened somewhat. Also, can we try the vortex in the opposite direction so it imiatetes the letter "P"?

#101 nice idea, but we do not care for the shape.

Thanks again - you are very talented!

We've got some very excellent recent entries. Here are some comments

#124 Congratulations! You are the first to combine all the elements we've been looking for. Media, chaos to decision making, technology, digital, positive change. And it is beautiful to boot. We also like that the logo will hold up against a black or white background and that it plays well in b&w. Some suggestions: The abstract P shape needs to be a little clearer as a P (maybe the top needs more rounding and bottom needs to come back up? The type font is okay (not great), but "FLUX" seems to be a smaller height font and may be a little too heavy. Don't be shy about using some color in the type. Love it!

#107 Like this one too. We see that the edge is a check mark. Can this be a little clearer? Can the 3D space wrap around the edge? Let's add some color also, please.

#98 Beautiful, but has issues in B&W, see comments above.

#118 - let's do something with the shape (and it needs to be smaller to avoid overpowering the text.

Thanks everyone.

#121 - like the design and the shape, but the energy is backward. Seems to flow from coherence to scattered. We need that to be reversed. Thanks.

#143 Simple, elegant and effective.

#132-#142 Cool idea. Some are too heavy handed. Of these, #137 is the best but would be improved if the bottom of the shape was not scattered. Move from disunity to togetherness.... See if you can find subtle motivation for the shape.

Beautiful! Keep them coming!

#156 - lettering needs better kerning, letters appear to bleed into each other (especially P and O)
#143 - can we please see one on a white background?
#107 - some suggestions above (feb 1, 8:08 AM)
#100 - some suggestions above (1/31 6:37PM), also, would you simplify font please? Less like star trek
#152- Keep playing with it.
#118 - we believe that this could be very good. Can we adapt the shape to something in our theme?

Thanks. Looking great. One more day!

It's getting to the end of the contest and we'll be having a few last minute folks join us. There have been some very good submission so far. Before submitting new logos, you might want to read through some of the previous notes. A couple of things to remember. We take chaos and make it into order. We are a media technology, project execution and operations firm. We need the logo to work with a black background for the web, a white background for print and in b&w. If you can combine these elements, but keep it simple, you may have a winner.

Thanks to everyone for your participation and energy.

Some specifics on recent submissions

#163 Nice and classy - but a little too simple for us. Thanks
#170 #171 - we're trying to stay away from symbols which can be conceived as "O" or zero, or a drain..... Thanks for joining us.
#173 and #174 These are nice and crisp as well. Unfortunately, the P ends up looking like a question mark. Thanks also for joining.

OK - did a quick sort, weeding out the ones which won't work. Don't take the ranking too literally at this point and we'll be sending additional comments on the top contenders in about an hour.

Sorry this note is a little late. It was almost complete and I changed pages before sending and lost it.

Thanks for all the wonderful entries so far. If your logo is on the list below, you are a finalist. Any of these entries are capable of winning. We will still accept new entries up to the deadline, but these will be given priority for tweaks and adjustments.

Please ensure we have a final copy showing the logo on a black background, white background and in B&W on a white background. The last to ensure that photocopies of our presentations will still look good.

Here are feedback for the finalists (in order of submission):

#80 Wording next to mark instead of below, please. Separate positive from flux.
#167 Like the energy on this mark. It looks much better on a black background than white. Can anything be done to enhance it?
#176 Please see earlier feedback on increasing the curve at the top of the mark so that it ends lower and further to the left. Just a suggestion. Also check positioning of the text relative to the mark, should it be higher or lower? Not sure.
#204 - Enjoy the playfulness of this, while it is perfectly on message. Can you please make the dancing square slightly wider than tall so it becomes a dancing rectangle? Pixels do not have to be square. Anxious to see on black background.
#205 - looks good, nothing to change.
#207 - separate positive from flux. Keep all letters with the same boldness
#212 don't change a thing.
#217 - please check kerning. Some letters seem too close to others. Also add a little more space before flux.
#221 - can we see the mark next to the wording instead of on top, please?
#222 - please move lettering closer to mark. Almost as close as you did in #223
#229 Please check the width of the vertical section in the E.

Thank you everyone.

Since our contest is about to end, we thought we would send you all a note to say thank you. We enjoyed the process. You are all very talented and your work speaks for itself.

Thanks for making this successful for us.

Since there are so many very excellent entries it may take a couple of days for our selection to be finalized. Thanks again and success to you all.
