Concept #142 God's Blueprint for Life

This concept communicates that God gives each of us purpose and direction to help us build meaningful and happy lives. Our faith is the foundation upon which we build our lives in order to grow spiritually.

This blueprint visual is a metaphor to convey that God has a plan for each of us if we use his teachings to guide us throughout life.

Concept #143 Community Testimony & Voice through God's Word

Can you see the cross in the negative space between this boxes?

These dialog boxes represent each disciple's testimony and collectively represent the community at large. This could be interpreted in many other ways as well. i.e. God's word, talks and teachings at Pip n Jay, community voice and involvement, etc.

#144 shows how this logo can be adapted for a poster/shirt/wall graphic where each dialog box captures a disciple's testimony. This could be written in by hand and adapted in many ways for a variety of mediums. You could paint this on a wall using chalkboard/whiteboard paint and have members write their thoughts inside the dialog boxes. I have more ideas if you're interested.

Hello - I love the dialogue boxes as an alternative idea for showing how people can connect. We're just about to hit the "top 5" stage and I'm really keen to see how you could develop this or any other new ideas, but there are specific ideas from other designers which I know the rest of the team are keen to keep as options for the moment. It's my first time running a LogoTournament contest, so I gather we can change the top 5 but I don't know how this works right now. Suffice to say, I'm interested in what you can do with this idea even if we're forced to name a different top 5 initially. I'd love to see a treatment with more equally sized bubbles and larger "handles" on each one. Also a different colour would help avoid it looking like the new Windows logo, but we'll expect to vary the colours in use anyway. Great job, and we'll get back in touch! Many thanks, Bern Leckie @ Pip n Jay

Hello Bern!

Thanks for your feedback! Here is another proposed concept centered on Community.

I also uploaded another version of my concept, Community Voices. The four colors I used designate the diversity within your group. I think this would appeal to your current members and help to attract a variety of new people to the church--all ages and backgrounds.

#155 - Community Voices

Per your request, I made the dialogs the same size so the "voices are equal", so to speak. I hope the team likes this and can imagine the branding potential with this concept.

Great - I think the equal voices in #155 are fantastic. It's a really strong, simple idea. I'd love to see any more suggestions you have which are different from the things we have lots of! Many thanks again, Bern

Hi Bern,
Do you have any feedback from the team regarding my entries?

I have more ideas but not exactly sure what direction your team is leaning towards or if you all have already chosen a designer to go with. I wish I could speak to you directly or show you my sketchbook of ideas but this site doesn't allow scans of rough concepts. If you are looking for something specific for your message or different from what has been proposed here on LT do let me know.

Have you seen this site?
http://churchrelevance.com/resources/top-church-logos/

It offers some great insight to help you choose a logo. I love how the examples are unique to each church and all avoid common cliches found with many churches today. I saw the two you mentioned in your brief in the list.

They also provide some copyright info for your logo

Hello, and thanks for the links - some of our favourite logos are there.

As for your entries, the more I think about #155 the more I like it. The team meets tomorrow for final feedback, but the big thing that strikes me is that talk is good, but church is about way more than that - it has to be about faith in action, and in our culture too much talk can be seen as getting in the way of that. So I wondered if there were adaptations or alternative treatments which could be made to that nice simple four-squares idea which demonstrate the different aspects of our vision: life (the dialogue does this nicely), mission (being sent for a purpose as God's kingdom advances), Jesus (the cross implicit in the logo does this nicely - a version without the speech bubble handles could accentuate this), growing disciples (maybe some sort of linkage between the elements?) and growing churches (maybe a few layers of the four squares in perspective, or there may be a much more elegant solution!). It would be nice to see some demos, or you could leave that side to us, as we're only effectively commissioning one logo. It's just the possibility which has me excited!

As for your other ideas, please feel free to post whatever you can share - we've a limited time left before contributions have to end, unfortunately. Best wishes, Bern

Hello - just to feed back, we had a team meeting today where #155 was definitely a front runner, and one of its main strengths is its versatility (I found it nice and easy to make some treatments along the lines of yesterday's comment).

A couple of different critiques came up - one that maybe the cross was a bit too subtle (would a drop shadow or some other accentuation towards the centre of the logo for each bubble help with this?) and the other was that maybe the space between the bubbles made people look distant from each other (I'm not sure I agree with this, but perhaps a version when the speech bubbles overlap and a cross is formed at the intersection would help with both of these observations?). I'm up for any other suggestions you have as we work towards getting the final, winning version from someone today, and I do believe you are a very strong contender.

Best wishes,
Bern

#201, #202 concepts emphasize community and growing churches.
#197 - #199 variety of shapes here emphasize progression, growth, energy, community
#200 concept shows a community of people or infinite network that forms as you grow and everyone is connected through faith

I used repetition and differences in the shapes to convey progression and growth in a simple way. These can also be seen as city maps from a bird's eye perspective.

I feel that #202 captures the essence of your church and has a lot of potential. It would probably look better if simplified a bit but hopefully the concept comes through clearly here.

If you like any of my ideas, I'd be more than happy to work with you after the contest to achieve the perfect logo. It's an important component and you should not feel rushed.

Thank you so much for your amazing ideas, and it's been a pleasure to work with you online. We'll need a few days to look at how the top candidate logos work in context (definitely including #155, possibly one or more of the variants you just sent too) and will expect to judge the winner on Monday next week. Best wishes, Bern

Hello - I'm delighted that we have finally declared #155 the winning design in our contest, and we are really excited about using your design as our logo for what we hope will be a long time to come. One thing which I made us like it the best was how it has grown on people over a brief period of testing - for example, people who initially just see the speech bubbles later see the cross, and then they never see the shape the same way again. This is a great analogy to faith itself - we see the world one way, God reveals something new, and we are changed. We also like the way in which our content (words, pictures, animations, etc) can live within the logo itself, rather than just having the logo to the side all the time. This is also a good analogy to our relationship with God - living within us, not just next to us. We believe God calls us to embody the gospel, not just wear Christian symbols as a badge, and we're excited that we can demonstrate this through your design. I feel that it is one of the simplest, cleverest designs that I've ever seen for what we wanted to do, a really world class solution to a design problem, and I'm looking forward to making good use of it! Many thanks again, Bern

Hi Bern,
I'm so excited y'all chose my design for your church!
Do you want a version of the logo using the current RGB color palette from your web site? I uploaded the current #1 version using the specified Pantone colors. Can I email you directly to discuss additional file/color formats you will need for print and web? LT only allows for one eps and jpg to be uploaded. I assume you will need a horizontal version of the logo as well. I can send the original Adobe Illustrator file if that is easier for your web designer.

Kind Regards,
Christina
