Discussion

Thank you for Entries #27 and #28!

Things we like: The number, size, and layout of the trees. The overall feel is tranquil, good use of colors. The chicken and bee elements are incorporated in a subtle way. The overall shape is simple and will translate well for our intended uses. We prefer the red lettering of 28 to the green of 27.

Some suggestions:
1) Bring the farmhouse forward/make it larger to be a bit more prominent
2) Make the "FARM" lettering the same color as rest of lettering and incorporate a tiny, tiny "Ltd."
3) We'd like to see some similar, but more simple font choices for "Pioneer Hill"
4) Try adding a subtle market garden to the left and rear. Not a huge monocrop farm field, but a garden.
5) Try symmetrical bee flights, changing the one on the right to be a mirror image of the one on the left.

Hi there. Thank you so much for the feedback. Just wanted to let you know I made all the changes, but our Internet has been out all day in our area. So I can't upload yet. I'm replying from my phone. I hope later this evening it will be back. Time warner is working on it...so they say. :-)

Finally, I am able to submit the revisions you requested! :-) I tried to vary up the garden a bit, Theres different sized and shape plants and there is a tomato plant in there, but I fear at this small size we have to submit, you can't see it, (unless I wanted to make him big enough to rival little shop of horrors)

One with the house even larger, and added some berry bushes.

Good stuff! We like it, #31 the best and we've gotten some good feedback from others, too. Thanks!

One more request - could you try a version of #31 where the words have the same coloring as "Pioneer Hill" in #28?

Also, with an alternative font choice, I was flipping through my fonts last night and found this one.

Thanks so much for continuing to submit alternatives!

We had a comment from a friend who really liked your design but said that they think the smaller lettering for "Farm" makes it seem less important, and that people driving by and seeing a sign might be thinking "Pioneer Hill what?" So....

We'd like to see a variation of #56 with "Farm" in a similar size. Or could still be smaller than Pioneer Hill but fatter or more bold to be more visible? We're open to your ideas here.

We like the stout lettering of #56 best, but are concerned the combination of this font with the darker color might feel a bit too heavy for the rest of this design. Perhaps a red between that of #31 and #56. Not sure if a solid color or gradient is most appealing, we may have a difference of opinion over here on our end about that.

Finally, the garden is lovely, but the size might convey a bit too much limitation from a production standpoint. To convey more of a bounty of farm fresh food we'd like to see a variation where the garden is extended behind the house and beneath the sun, off into the horizon. Our main "field" does just that in real life, too, extending around that side of the house! I know we originally said don't make a huge field, so it is a balancing act.

Hi there!

Thank you so much, once again for the feedback and suggestions.

I have uploaded a few more choices per your requests. I took away the gradient for now on the lettering, I personally am partial to a lighter and solid color, in keeping with the 'open' feel of the artwork. The colors of the letting of course can always be changed. :-)

With the words Pioneer Hill Farm, all on one line, I wasn't sure how the bees would come into play, as they were serving as a way to fill the space on either side of the word 'FARM' I left one version with the bees.

But my most recent addition, #70, has a completely different garden. I had to remove the tree, but instead I reshaped the plot to 'curve' with the landscape, and I added bigger plants, and with more variety such as corn, multiple tomato plants, bigger lettuce, and some pumpkins, for color. Also, In making the garden larger, I abandoned the linear 'rows of plants' look, and placed them in a more organic and natural fashion. (no pun intended!)

Have a great evening!

Also, I keep forgetting to add a Chimney! Here is one with a chimney!

Thanks for the additional entries. You've given us even more options to ask you to change!

Our first impression of the words all on one line as that it took away from the overall oval shape. Can you try a version with the words all on one line, but with a downward curve? Not sure if this will take away from the "hill" feeling or not...

Still want some tweaks with word colors. Can you submit a version with the 2 line lettering layout of #56 with a the word "FARM" just bigger and the red of that wording with no gradient?

Yea, chimney!

We would like to keep the bees, but agree they look better with the 2-tier wording.

We like the plant variety in the gardens in #70 and #71 but the size of the plants seems a bit too big for the scale, could you try a middle ground between these and the ones in #68 & #69? We like the tree on garden side if possible.

We like the red better than the brown lettering.

Thank you!

Alrighty! Yes I re-read the requests from last night this morning and said to myself "OHHHH they said I could keep the word 'FARM' on the second line, just make it bigger..." That part escaped me, so I appreciate the opportunity to submit revisions in judging mode.

I revamped the garden a bit more, keeping in mind what you said, about being 'somewhere in between' the two extremes of 'gardeni-ness' :-) and also played with a few variations of the text once again. I went back to the red you said you liked, and reverted also to using a gradient, but it is much more subtle. Just enough to make it 'pop.'

The last two entries, however, #76, and #77, I thought I'd toy with the idea of making the house even larger. I think this partially solves the problem with the garden looking too over-sized, and also revisits the notion that you indeed want the HOUSE to be the central focus, having that as your trademark.

As always, I am here if you need to see any other changes, or if you feel you need to combine anything else from the various choices of my submissions, just let me know!

We like the colored scene of #74 best, how it fills the whole space of the wording, a little more panoramic/scenic. The bees are kind of hanging out outside of their field on #77.

We like the lettering of #77 best as it is biggest. We'd prefer if the "Ltd." were further shrunk down to the size of #75 and the "farm" made bigger to fill the extra space from the smaller Ltd.

We are so close! Maybe #78 will be it!

Ok, I took Entry #77, added the smaller "LTD" from #75, and then made the entire farm scene a little bit bigger, while adjusting the bees so they incorporated better into the design. :-)

Or alternatively, the lettering a LITTLE smaller, with the bees tilted upward the way they were at the beginning.
