not much original ideas here... 50% of pet's logos used the pawprint...just google

there's lot more than pawprint, i guess, look closely, don't just say things...look at them "CLOSELY"

I have been debating that exact question before I make my final ranking decision. My question to myself is, "Is the colour actually part of the design?" I think it is. A perfect example is #88. I love the look. However, #92 which is exactly the same without the black background, is not as attractive.

On the other hand, should a designer with the same design, but different colour variations, get many entries in the top ranks?

Any comments from anyone before I finish judging.

To clarify my previous comment - I ommitted one word. What I meant to say was - Is the "Background" colour actually part of the design.

hmm, I see what you mean, but ranking is all that most designers receive(there can only be one winner)......
so I guess color variations is what I meant, if its the same design........:)
I guess this is difficult to explain.....I just feel color variations shouldn't be ranked imho, BUT I love the fact that you have ranked, :) there are many awesome designs:)

Could someone clarify what the "short list" is. Is it everyone who has not been marked "not interested", or a certain number of entries after 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

I believe it would be the ones who have not been marked not interested, those that are/we're considered.....unless you click not interested, the entry is kept, and receives a blue ribbon for shortlisted(the ones that you considered) I hope I helped, not confused;).....

Thanks for the help tini1. So if a designer has 10 variations of the same logo with minor changes in design or colour, they will get a ribbon for each one? Even though the changes were minor, or the colour changed, I did like them and consider them. Is that the way it was intended?

Once I went to the "Select Winner" page, it answered a lot of my questions. I was afraid to click on the "Select Winner" button because I wasn't sure if the program would let me back in to the judging area. It indicated that the 1st place winner should not also be a 2nd or 3rd place winner. Also, shortlist enties should not include multiple similar entries from one designer. Perhaps this information and guidelines should be posted somewhere else. I have adjusted my selection based on those rules. However, I have included some similar designs that I loved and were responsible for my final selection. I also wanted to reward those designers who worked hard, but did not win, by including them on the shortlist. The winners are;
Ist place - IdeazDen
2nd place - Cayetano
3rd place - jdmerlin
