A tooth captured inside a glass marble made with modern WEB 2.0 graphic style.
Two fonts - one 'funny' and one more serious.
Colour set to strong since kids love strong colours - or at least we adults like to think so... ;-)

It's happy/childish - still with a more professional look that works well in print or commercials.

You can of course set it to any colour you prefer.

Healthy green
Added some shadow on tooth and relocated its outline to give a more cartoon like impression.

Really like #41. I would love to see it with a few modifications. I would love to see it a bit more colorful with a bit more playful font. Also, maybe we could add some movement to the marble like it is rolling down a track. Great work.

Colourful, playful and comic font still without being all over the place.
The marble received a 'swoosh' to implement the action element. Also glossy.
Deepened the green and added a yellow in the gradients to increase warmth.

The swoosh hugs all elements and kind of framing the imagery, keeping it balanced.

I would recommend not to use to many 'illustration elements' like tracks, toothbrushes and too complicated imagery. Because of two things:
1. It tends to become more of an illustrations than an actual logo, and small elements tends to disappear when printed small or look strange if enlarged.
2. It is harder to balance the logo - This is very important - The same way you feel when you see a perfect smile.
Hope you like it

I am really liking the logo. I would love to see a few variations with colors and fonts, just to have a few options, but overall, it is a great look. Thanks!!

Glad you liked it! :-)

I will provide you with four different variations tomorrow on colour and font.

Thanks. Just to help guide you, I have shown all of the logos to my staff and they are all picking my #2 ranked choice because they say it looks more vibrant and kid friendly. I really like the idea of yours and the way it looks so far, but I think it will need to be a little more child friendly to win them over. Great work so far.

"Bill - The Beaver" A compact comic beaver with huge white teeth in action - He throws the 'tooth-marble'.
Can be used with the logo or without.
Can also be used for campaigns, instructional sheets or stickers.
Easy to recreate/improve for any artist, should you decide to engage a local firm.

N.B. As you probably noticed I'm a bit reluctant to make a logo cluttered with details since it becomes more of an illustration than an actual logo. I fully understand your co-workers/friends feeling for the fun colour filled examples. However, I think you have to decide how well this is going to look after 5-10 years. Is it going to fit into the practice and level of development you want to take the company too?

I really like the beaver on #59 and the font for Dentistry. I also like the blue color. Can I see this set-up with green instead of orange? Also, If I choose this logo, would it be possible to get one version with the log and beaver together and separate versions with the beaver and logo separate from each other? Thanks. Keep the good ideas coming!!

Green is on the way....

And yes, regarding the different versions. No problem. Just remember that Logotournament site only gives you 1 eps (vector file) and 1 jpg (bitmap file) in the delivery. Any other files has to be sent outside the site - afterwards. Just so you don't expect to receive everything at once.

You can always reach me at 'akerman@akermanscove.com'
And I have my own design site at 'akermanscove.com'

You're right, the blue, green works nicely.
In addition I think that it gives the logo that "fresh-new-toothpaste-for-kids-look"

Remember that during 'judging' state it is possible for you to request further alterations of the design you've chosen for the first place. And I'll be here every day.

I am really liking #60, but I would love to see a few variations before selecting it as a winner. Maybe you could play with a few of these suggestions to see how they look.

Maybe try making the "of Smyrna" a little larger and/or a little bolder. I am afraid it might not be easy enough to read if it is business card size.

I like the blue/green combination. Can I see it with a green that is just a little brighter?

Does the "Y" in dentistry seem a little high relative to the other letters or is it just me?

I like the purple in #50, but I am not crazy about the color gradient. Is there any way to see some of that color in the end product without having the color gradient in Dentistry?

Thanks for all the work you have put into this. I am impressed.

Hi,

will make some more suggestions based on the feedback above.

1. The "Y" is slightly higher - The idea was to give a more 'fun' impression. The D, T and S are also raised slightly. The "Y" position is also adopted to balance with the beaver shape and to bring it closer to the text. Shall I lower it?

2. Will make Purple (non gradient) suggestions and "Smyrna" larger/bolder

Hopefully this will be available later today (local time Stockholm ;-)

For reference on my drawing skills - http://akermanscove.com/?page_id=78
(click on the image for details and to enlarge it). Wanted to point this out since the beaver is a logo (and usually small - like on a business card), it doesn't have a lot of detail. It can be refined. By me or someone else.

1. Lighter Green
2. 'of Smyrna' enlarged with 30-45% - Now starting under the "I" in 'Dentistry'
3. Bill The Beaver has a white outline that makes him stand out on dark/coloured surfaces

If the green lettering becomes a little week on white - This can be cured by adding a thin darker outline around the letters. Like the beaver has. Just a tip. :-) ) I can add that later if necessary.

Great! Finally, can I see #108 without the Beaver? This is probably what I will use for more professional applications like business cards and letterhead. Thanks. It will be primarily used on white, so feel free to add any changes that you think will make it look better on white.

Logo without Bill the Beaver
Added a slightly darker thin outline on the 'Pediatric' and 'of Smyrna' - Just to make it look a bit more crisp.

Remember that the vector file is in layers, so almost any print agency can add or remove the effects or add new ones or resize the objects or change colours...and so on.

This logo is set to CMYK colour space, so for printing there shouldn't be any problems. When saving for the screen it becomes a few percent darker (like you see here), but that's natural and those differences are manageable by any web admin.

Great work. I have one last request and I promise this is it. The "of" being the only thing in gray looks a little off to me. Should we maybe try it in green or blue. Also, how will it work getting the different versions from you. I know that you said Logotournament will only give me one version. If I select the one with the beaver, will you send me the version without so I can use it for other applications? Will you also send me the beaver alone? How does that work. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks,

No problem, of course we change the 'of' that's a bit ...off. ;-) Happy to make any alterations you like.

And regarding the transfer of all files - If you visit http://akermanscove.com you will find a Client Area to the right on the screen - Here you will find all the files you've requested.

And in addition there is a commenting field in the Account were you can request even more changes. :-)

This Client Account will be accessible for at least 1 year and you can come back and download your files at any time. (Server is in LA) The Account is password protected and if you feel you want to hand over the password to a printing agency so they can download the images directly, it's up to you.

When you've Approved the LT package (EPS & JPG file) and I've been paid, I will send you the password without delays.

Files for download from the Client Account at AkermansCove.com:
Logo+Beaver - .ai (Illustrator CS3), eps (generic vector format), jpg, .png (transparent background)
Logo only - as above
Beaver only - as above

All in all - 12 files.............and like I said if you need even more, just drop a line in the comment area in the Client Account, where you download the files, at AkermansCove.com

The logo only - With updated 'of' in green.

I tried the blue colour, but that just looked strange and unbalanced.
