What We Do
This organisation conducts climate change research in the alpine areas of Victoria, Australia. It is a collaboration between the major science organisation and the top universities, to bring together projects that investigate various research areas such as fire, plant phenology, soils and plant-animal interactions and how changes in climate are, and might further, influence the ecology of these fragile, slow-growing but also very popular areas.

Color Preferences
2 options:
1: If using the billy button daisy as the logo - which is preferred - the colors will be muted alpine grey-green and the yellow of the flower or
2: If wanted to explore other mountain/alpine elements such as mountains or weather or vegetation, the colors will have to be restricted to muted alpine colors of Victoria.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
The Craspedia daisy - commonly known as billy buttons - is iconic to this area and is the prefered element to use in our logo. You don't have to use the whole plant, although the flowers could be seen as representing the research groups being grounded by the science, or the tuft of the plant base.

An example of how this could be simplified is this logo which I quite like (top right of page): http://www.anbg.gov.au/gardens/

Others might like to explore mountain/alpine themes. They will need to be very simple though and only use muted alpine color and tones.

Discussion

I forget to mention the acronym: OzTEX. It can be used, although I know it's ugly :)
Alternatively you could use - Australian Tundra Experiment

Thanks so much. I can't wait to see the start of the designs.

PS. Happy if only elements of the billy buttons are used!

Thanks everyone. I'm still curious to see if anyone can crack the billy buttons with a version that is close to being botanically correct??! Our board is reviewing the current designs, but there's still 1 day left of the open stage.

Thanks for all your consideration and work on this design. I hope you're all receiving an award of some kind for your efforts!

Thanks for your submissions everyone. Unless you have a new concept to offer, I think we have more than enough variations on the few elements we have now, and can refine the details in the next stage.

I would still like to see someone who has read the brief and the feedback, put forward a design purely based on a botanically correct plant - see photo, or Google 'botanical drawing Craspedia' for more details.
